KFDM COOP Posted July 28, 2008 Author Report Posted July 28, 2008 Four playoff schools in 4A For the last two seasons, the top four teams from each 5A district have qualified for the playoffs. Now the same will be true in the Class 4A playoffs, with four teams from each district qualifying instead of three. Locally, it means that four teams from the new District 20-4A - including Central, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Livingston, Lumberton, Nederland, Ozen, Port Neches-Groves and Vidor - will earn a berth into the 2008 postseason. But don't expect the UIL to expand again, Breithaupt said. "I think we've gone about as far as we can go," he said. "If you let more than four in, you have to let 'em all in." The old playoff format remains in classes A through 3A, with three teams from each district going to the postseason. Breithaupt said he hasn't heard any proposals regarding expansion in Class 3A or lower.
stangchain Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 I thought I read somewhere last year that the 3A coaches said NO!!!!
KFDM COOP Posted July 28, 2008 Author Report Posted July 28, 2008 No plans right now for 3A-lower to have 4 teams enter the playoffs.
