Guest coachacola Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 Lamar men's golfer Justin Harding was one of a handful of golfers to emerge from sectional play at the Lake Charles Country Club Monday and qualify for the 2008 United States Amateur Golf Championship. Harding, a rising senior from Cape Town, South Africa, shot a 6-under-par 66 to qualify for the stroke-play portion of the event, which will be held Aug. 18-24, at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in Village of Pinehurst, N.C. Harding recently completed his junior season at Lamar with a 74.11 stroke average and was named to the all-SLC golf team for the third-consecutive year. Last year, former Cardinal Casey Clendenon advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur prior to his senior season in Beaumont. Van der Walt collects $33,566 for his first ever Hooters title, while Turner will take home the second place check of $16,671 for his runner-up finish.
