Edouard delays first practice for many area football teams

Many local football coaches have cancelled practices for Tuesday as Tropical Storm Edouard threatens the Southeast Texas coast. Most practices remained on schedule today, as several schools held two morning practices and were finished for the day at around noon.

Bridge City coach Cris Stump said his team’s Tuesday practices have been cancelled. The Cardinals’ next practice is scheduled for Wednesday night, he said.

Ozen coach Ishan Rison said he would wait to learn the storm’s path before he determined what to do about Tuesday’s practices but remained mindful that players may have family obligations as the storm nears.

West Orange-Stark coach Dan Hooks said the Mustangs' practice was still scheduled for Monday afternoon.

“If we lose a day of practice on Tuesday, everyone in Southeast Texas is in the same boat,†Hooks said.
