Two hits come to my mind. First, the hit of the year according to ESPN, when Texas Aggie LB Quinton Coryatt leveled a TCU receiver coming over the middle on ESPN's Thursday night game in '86. The other was Silsbee LB Gary McGuire cloths lining a receiver for Nederland in a scrimmage in '82. Both players were out cold for several minutes. Vicious, vicious.

Last year, Jerrod "Sticks" Lewis a WR for WOS made probably the best "crack back" block I've ever seen against a DE from Nederland. I was also thinking about the Quinton Coryatt hit and also the Jack Tatum hit on Darrell Stingly.

in 1987 quentin tezeno threw a block on a rockwall defender in the state championship game. the guy was going to tackle tremaine lewis but tezeno came in from the blind-side and leveled the defender. speaking of that game, can anyone remember what famous high school coach was an assistant on the rockwall coaching staff in 1987? answer is Southlake Carroll's Todd Dodge. 8)

Mine was a game between Texas A&M vs Pittsburgh a few years back, i cant remember who was runnin the ball for the aggies, but he received the toss to the right and he was maybe a foot from the goal line, and just got waylayed by the pittsburgh linebacker, the hardest hit ive ever seen, besides the one everyone else has been talkin about above me....

2000 area round, BC vs Cleveland. BC linebacker Robert Melich delivered a monster lick to the Cleveland tailback. He was in the backfield and got to the tailback as soon as the ball did. I have the game on tape and I watch it every now and then.

I'm showing my age here..........1972, Port Arthur SFA vs. BC at Memorial stadium. SFA kicks to BC, Bo Worrell takes the ball to the right and SFA linebacker Broussard went through his earhole. I thought he was dead. Later found out that BC trainer, Mo Litton thought he was dead too! :o Bo was out for a few minutes and when he come to, asks Mo, "did I hurt him, coach?"

as far as hs...i'd say robert melich's hit on a punt against orangefield in the first buyou bowl. but did anyone see dale armand's hit on a wo-s deffensive back on an interception return last year? i was watching him return it on our sideline..a split second later i saw a blur of armand and the kids helment went atleast 8 feet in the air. i guess he was getting his frustration out on a poor first half

Heres that hit for yall

That's got to be one of the best hits i've seen from College Football. I'll have to think a while on the HS level.

In 02 Jasper was playig Mexia in the playoffs in Huntsville and there was 2 big hits, one by Red Bryant on a running back coming through the middle at full speed and went head to head with Red, looked like a Volkswagen vs a Mack Truck  , the back almost cut a complete flip where they hit. The second was in the same game on a punt return and one of the linebackers, cant remember his real name his nickname was "PORK-CHOP" peeled back and hit a defender right when he was reaching for the returner, poor guy never saw it coming. When he got up he headed towards our sidelines before the trainers could get him headed in the right direction.

That hit was pretty brutal. He also hit an old boy from, I think it was BH, but I could be wrong. It was in the playoffs and this kid running the ball was a monster. He tried to run Melich over. Melich broke down, put a helmet in his chest, picked up the guy by both legs and slammed him to the ground. It was pretty sweet.

The Red Bryant hit was the one I was thinking of too. That was the best hit I have seen by a defensive lineman on a running back. He did the same thing to a Diboll running back.

Brad Sullivan had two blockers escorting a kick returner down the Nederland sidelines... he took a running start and in stead of trying to tackle the guy with the ball, he absolutely blew up the guy in front and helicoptered into the runner. One of the best hits or gutsy plays I have ever seen. He was one tough customer. Played a playoff game against Texas City with a seriously bruised shoulder and almost brought the Dogs back. One of Nederland's all-time greats.
