westend1 Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Does anyone know what kind of team Lufkin is supposed to have this year?
KFDM COOP Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 They retun their QB who is a great one His name is Jeffery Clayborn, last season he had over 2000 yards and 20 TD's. They lost alot on Offense but he is a load. They have 7 back on Defense so it should be a fun one to watch!
westend1 Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Posted August 18, 2008 I have heard that they have a stud d-lineman that is ranked nationally by some recruiting services.
KFDM COOP Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Yes name is McFarland he had 67 tackles and is ranked in the top 10 in the Nation.

SFA85 Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Supposedly Lufkin's throwing away the spread and going back to the I-formation. Mr. McFarlan is the real deal. There also is a DE that's tough also.
82 5A State Champs Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 I thought Lufkin was going to more of a Pro type offense? Either way, it out to tell us where we are as a team. Lord knows we have some good teams we are gonna face this season. Should be a good tune up game!
PackAttack Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Lufkin returns senior QB Jeffery Claybon 6'3" 190 and senior RB Trevon Lewis 6' 210 as starters on offense for 2008. Lufkin will still run some spread but also have added the Pistol O to their package. They have lots talent on offense that hasn't played on Friday nights but are going to surprise a few people. They will have very good back up RB in Wendell Smith 6' 180 and Michael Ingram 6' 185. The WR corp will consist of Quinn Trimble 6'3" 185, Tra Horace 5'9" 170, Kasey Jones 5"10 175, Taz Haliu 5"10" 170 and D'adrick Lee 6'2" 215 all have great hands and speed. The O-line will be young but they came back bigger and stronger than they were in the Spring, they will be better than most think. The Lufkin D will be stout. In fact their front 4 could be one of the best in the State. JaMarkus McFarland 6'3" 285, Garman Reed 6'3" 245 , Ja'Darius Dade 6'2" 245, and eventually Shaqille Teel 6'1" 270 will be the front four D-line. The secondary has two returning starters in Jr Carrington Byndom 6'1" 185 and Sr De' Marques Freeman 6' 180. Returning LB's will be Sr Ka"Landis Phillips 5'10" 190, Jr JaMendric Garrett 5'11" 190, Jr Blaine McBride 5"10" 185 and Sr Chris Davis 6'1 190, will play by committee. These guys like to hit and play physical Panther football. www.lufkinpanthersports.com
