Man vrs. zone

As a player, I always thought the 1-3-1 was the dumbest zone ever invented. Especially for the poor fella at the point of the zone. But when it's working, it's a work of art and a little luck.

Any patient offense can own the base line on 1-3-1 because the defense has to choose play the ball or reverse unless their extremely quick and can execute perfect.

either way, a lazy defensive team is a team that will lose....

ZONE= lazy players

man= you better have some horses on that team

yeahh zones defintely equal lazy players and they will never win i mean just 2 years ago HJ and Kountze both ran the 1-3-1 and i forget how did that turn out for them?? Oh yeah a state championship man id to see a defense that they couldve won in

yea most teams that play zone it means that their really not quick enough to play man.

OK so you saying that HJ and Kountze are not quick enough to run man????? IMO i think both teams would do just fine in a man defense but they choose not to run it because the 1-3-1 press gets them a lot easier steals and in which easier steal equals easier points......

To make sure I'm on the same page with you guys, I'm talking about a full court 1-3-1- trap zone. As a player, I cannot express how much I hated that defense when Dickie Vitale's dad made us run it. You hustled as if you were playing two men at one time
