HoopInsider_Cooper Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Westward bend at the end of that run looks all too familiar.
East TX Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 That is interesting in that it is projected to cross Cuba long-ways just like the great Hurricane of 1900 that totaled Galveston.
KFDM COOP Posted August 25, 2008 Author Report Posted August 25, 2008 Man we really have to watch this!!
PNG70 Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Whatcha think Coop....should we be worried?
KFDM COOP Posted August 25, 2008 Author Report Posted August 25, 2008 To early to say but sure. This is going to be a Cat 3 or higher!
westend1 Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Don't like the looks of the new computer models.   Â
82 5A State Champs Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 This aint gonna be good. I actually saw one model that put it coming right into SETX as a Category 5! I have friends in New Orleans, and I hate it for them, but I would rather it go there than here. We need to watch this one very closely, folks. This one could be REALLY bad!
PURPLE 4EVER Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 I got a bad feeling for the New Orleans area... Wonder if Nagin handles things different this time? Wherever this thing ends up, God Bless the area... Talk about total devastation...
PURPLE 4EVER Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Coop... Will the high pressure over the South East weaken over the next few days?? That might hold the key to where Gustav tracks. I got a feeling this could be a CAT 5 when it makes landfall.
KFDM COOP Posted August 26, 2008 Author Report Posted August 26, 2008 There will be 2 Highs, one over us and one over the SE..The one over us is the key. It will be a close call i'm afraid.
82 5A State Champs Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 At 6, Greg said that there was an area of high pressure over Florida. He said it looked as if it might flow to the west, thus keeping Gustav in a more westerly direction and away from us. Has this changed?

82 5A State Champs Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Well, I know what that means. Better start buying gas cans and plywood.
HoopInsider_Cooper Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Yep....sa that this great group of seniors could miss their final season...not like ncaa where they get an extra year of eligibility. If true what they say, this will make Rita look like a girl. My new chant: G-A-G....G-A-G....G-A-G....Go Away Gustav!!!
CardinalFan Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 I hear one of our local weather peeps on an unnamed TV station are already freaking out and ready to head for the hills...
tvc184 Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 We can what if this thing until it makes landfall. Anything more than about 48 hours out is a guess based on conditions "at that moment". The odds of making an accurate forcast of landfall 7 days out are slim to none. Due to that, I am encouraged that the thing looks to be heading our way. ;D
westend1 Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 The computer models seem to be taking it further east now.
bullets13 Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 The computer models seem to be taking it further east now. the cnn map currently shows it hitting around new orleans as a category 3. of course, as ya'll have said, things can change.
tvc184 Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Wow... the computer models have all changed from the time I went to bed and the time I woke up. Go figure. I am guessing Alabama or the panhandle of Florida. Landfall will be no farther west than New Orleans.... in my totally bias and unscientific guesstimate. Pensacola had better start boarding up those windows.
stevieray Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Talk about a compact storm...I heard on the weather channel last night that a Category 3 storm that is compact can be more destructive than a large Category 5....Is that true????
