They are not keeping people out.  There are no roadblocks off the interstate.  Someone just called us that had evacuated to Marshall and decided to come back.  It's not supposed to hit til tomorrow afternoon/evening.

So what you are saying is that I am free to come home with no road blocks unless something drastic changes?  Right?  I will leave LaRue around 9am in the morning and be home by noon or shortly after hopefully.

Yes.  And there was just a post on the football board that Greg Bostwick says he is confident that there will be no more wobble to the weeble!!!!  It will stay on course to hit Houma, La!  We won't get too much here (maybe 40 mph).

if there is any wobble it will be to the east. now when it makes it turn inland to wnw/due west is a different story. the good thing if there is any good, gustav is killing off hanna 8)

can anyone explain why 10 adults would stay in Houma with 8 kids because "the kids asked to stay"? on a boat to say the least

I don't know, but I do like your new avatar, scooter!  :)

Anyone can come back in guys, but remember we are still under an evacuation order and a Hurricane warning from the NWS. The weather is fine right now but will turn for the worse in a few hours. It also seems that the storm is wanting to go due west as it hits the LA coast. We can still have pretty strong wind and lots of rain. Remember it doesnt take much to lose power, so if you are in a cozy hotel room I would wait a while to see what will happen. It would not be fun to come home to no electricity. Also, I just drove through BC and Orange and the only store open is Snappys at hwy62 and hwy87. They also have gas. Everyone else is closed and boarded up.

Weather could still get rough tonight (Monday) as some of the bands move in from the East. Thankfully the Storm made landfall well to our east. It will be slow moving to the NW then W/NW..Winds in excess of 50 MPH will be possible tonight and Tuesday.

just returned from a "packed" HEB in Mid County....they said they will keep their same normal hours which is closing at midnight for the rest of the week.  No plans to close at all....

Got home from the ranch at noon and unloaded the car and went straight to HEB in Beaumont.  There is way more traffic in HEB than on the highways.  They are fully stocked with the exception of bread when we were there.  Glad to be home.  Rumor has it that me and the HJ crew may have a little Hurricane poker game tonight!!!! ;D

any news about mississippi? alot about new orleans just wondering about miss.

Hate to say it but it's a ratings war with national news stations. Nothing gets better ratings than the words FEMA, New Orleans, George Bush, Ray Nagin and breached levees.

Here is a link for the latest in Mississippi, who seem to handle it's business.
