Just got up to check things out.  Jumped on thw wunderground.com and checked out the computer models.  As of 1am our time, 4 models lay on top of each other, all putting the storm in the middle of LA.  Another is just to the west of those 4.  Makes me feel a lot better.  I think the update them again around 6ish.

The 7am didn't look nearly as promising... :'(

I am still not going anywhere. I'd rather have my a$$ beat then be in that traffic!

Here are a couple of pages from the Houston Chronicle website that I've found to be helpful during hurricane season.

The first is to the Sciguy blog. For the past three years or so that I've been following his tropical storm system analysis, I've found him to be highly reliable. He definitely knows his stuff, and does an impressively detailed analysis, and explanation, of all the relevant data. There are lots of other weather reports (and rumors) available, but this guy usually hits the nail right on the head.

The second is to the tropical weather page. This sort of brings all the information together. You can go from there to details on any current tropical storm, including the latest computer models and official forecasts.

Anyway, based on the latest information, I'm feeling increasingly confident that the SE Texas area, from the state line westward to Houston is going to be OK. The lastest Sciguy blog gives the details.

I'm glad we decided to stay instead of getting out in that traffic nightmare!!!!  We didn't leave Orange until Friday AM the day Rita hit and there was NO traffic by that time.  We went to Ft. Worth via all the back roads and had to make a few uturns to get around roadblocks, but traffic was not the problem.

There isn't any traffic in Orange at all. ;D

Not only that I just got word that the store at the corner of Park and 16th is still open and it's almost noon. Now that makes me happy. ;)

Are you saying that there will be less or more cars after noon?

I think more people will be out after noon but I still don't think there will be many.
