cmsfan Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 There has been a lot of talk about the Varsity teams. Freshman and JV start Thursday night, any predictions on these games? Or possible teams to watch?
jr1979 Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 WOS FRESHMAN AND JV SQUAD, AND ALSO THE 8 TH GRADE SQUAD. NEDERLAND FRESHMAN HAS A GOOD SQUAD ALSO, SO SHOULD BE A GOOD GAME AT 5 PM ON THURSDAY.
PURPLE 4EVER Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Do not underestimate Barbers Hill's freshmen. Their 8th grade group and 9th grade group this year really impressed me last year when they played Dayton. Looks like Coach Price will have some size and speed to work with in about two or three years. These two groups are WAY better than the upper class men they now have.
Dwack Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Dibol and Kirbyville both have very good Freshman teams. They have running backs that were studs last year at the eighth grade level. If they improve with age they will be impresive.
zeroturn Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 i think west brook will have a competive jv squad have a few soph on varisty that would make them good...
cmsfan Posted August 27, 2008 Author Report Posted August 27, 2008 It is always interesting when thetwo Middle Schools combine in High School, things start leveling out. No doubt Nederland will be good, and WOS is always good at all levels. I also remember BC doing well in Middle School, haven't heard any talk of them lately?

The 8th grade group at BC was very good last year. They will be freshman this year so they should be good.
Guest bccarpenter15 Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 Im pretty tired of everyone talking bout this years BC freshman our group last year was pretty good only losing to WOS, Silsbee, and tying Lumberton, we worked our butts off in the offseason and beat Liberty 50-0 thursday and i dont see anyone beating us this year, not to mention the freshman team is very good but have you ever watched the teams they play?
cmsfan Posted September 3, 2008 Author Report Posted September 3, 2008 bccarpenter15, What do you mean by the teams that the Freshman play? Don't they play the same teams that the rest of the school plays? Or is there something I'm missing? Obviously they play the Freshman groups from those schools, but didn't you play freshman when you were on the freshman team? Not sure what you mean?? Hopefully your attitude changes because you may be playing with them next year. I read that BC JV won 48-0, that is great. I wish BC and Nederland would match up, then I could see for myself.
lu cards Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 i look for png's fresh and jv team to have good years.

If you're from BC shouldn't you be supporting the freshman as well?????????????????
AllstarDad8 Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 When you see great school's jv and freshman teams like WOS its easy to see why they are good year in and year out. For schools to get better every year the coaches have to invest in the future.
Bwilson Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 kellys jv went up 20 to zero in the 1st quarter, the the players who play friday nights as well were taken outta the game. with everyone in the looked pretty solid
Wildcat4life Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Kirbyville has a solid group of youngters!

Rules violation. What's Mike Long got goin on over at Kelly??? ;D
Gasilla Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 The WOS JV is pretty stout. They put a pretty good beat down on the Nederland JV last week 34-7. At times, they look like a varsity out there. The QB (Reggie Garrett- Soph) easily had over 150 yards passing. The defense is quick and VERY physical. They have a very good chance of running the table this year.

The future is exciting for WOS football!

stangchain Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Not trying to disagree with you '79, but if our varsity continues to play like they did against Ned, we won't need anybody from the jv. Leave 'em there and let 'em grow up a little more!!!!!

Leave 'em there and let 'em grow up a little more!!!!! i'm with you to an extent, but if we bring them up, which we will prior to district, this will give us more depth for a stronger, longer run in the 3A state playoffs. it also gives them valuable varsity experience.

Do I sense the stables to be getting full in the near future when the Freshmen and JV win 112-0 in game one of the season.
D-Town Dad Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 I know a lot of people on this site do not want to hear it, but Dayton's Freshman team has to be considered one of the best in area. These boys have lost a total of 2 games since they have been playing together, from 7th grade till present time, including shutting down WO in a scrimmage this year and beating Bay City and Friendswood. These boys have proven with their running game that they will be a force to be reckened with by the time they hit the varsitiy squad. A couple of players on this team ( oh, the QB last name is Green, no relation to the current varsity QB Green) really stand-out and if they continue to stay together, they will more than likely have Dayton ranked # 1 again.
bigred9th Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Bridge City Freshmen All the Way, the best to watch
Serpentor Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Not trying to disagree with you '79, but if our varsity continues to play like they did against Ned, we won't need anybody from the jv. Leave 'em there and let 'em grow up a little more!!!!! your right of coarse, but WOS always brings up more players, even when though they dont need them.
