I had more problems driving through Beaumont than evacuating from New Orleans...thanks for tacking an hour extra on my evacuation today!

So...why all the traffic in Beaumont? Construction still, eh?

UNLV -- if you want to be FBS and have a big stadium, you got to get those issues fixed.

Thats because we knew it was you...

Why is New Orleans people coming this way, I would go towards Jackson, Birmingham, or Atlanta...

Beaumont and Houston is still in the cone. SHSU sigh!!!!

Alot of people coming from Louisiana evcuating.

Those were not Louisiana people -- because I had no problems once I got 10 miles of New Orleans. No problems in Baton Rouge, none in Lake Charles, Lafayette, etc. Beaumont is where we got it bad...I'd say 85% of the plates in that area were Texans. Not many Louisiana residents at that point...

From the Beaumont Enterprise today:

Interstate 10 west bound in Orange County has been shut down because of four wrecks at three different intersections, a Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said.

The wrecks are at FM 1132, Texas 62 and FM 1442.

Trooper Stephanie Davis said all troopers were out working the wrecks and didn't have a timeframe for when the interstate would reopen.

Alternate routes for motorists immediately coming into Texas would be to use the 16th Street exit in Orange.

Motorists would need to go south on 16th Street to Texas 87. They would need to take Texas 87 to Port Arthur. From Port Arhtur motorists can take Texas 73 to Winnie, which will take them back to Interstate 10; or drivers can take U.S. 69 north to Beaumont.

Earlier in the day, law enforcement officials in Orange could be heard over the radio talking about how much the traffic from Louisiana had picked up over night.

Parishes in Louisiana had issued voluntary evacuations for today.

Well some Texans are evacuating too... duhh!!!

Couldn't tell -- didn't have trunks loaded and things loaded on top of the car. Doubt they were evacuating at this point.

Saw the buses at Ford Arena. No one was moving just yet.

Maybe it's our growing population, who will be in the stands in 2010.
