HoopInsider_Cooper Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Mandatory evacuations will be lifted tonight or earlier Tuesday morning, according to the local emergency officials. Roads are open, so you can return if you would like, but nearly all businesses, including most gas stations are still closed. There are a few open, like the HEB on Dowlen Road in Beaumont and some Waffle Houses and a few gas stations. Do expect tropical storm conditions (IE: heavy down pours and wind gusts) Monday evening into Tuesday and electricity could go out. ***Remember, we may have dodged this bullet, but September is the prime months and the tropics are hopping.

PNG Proud Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 The big HEB in Ned has been open the whole time... in case anyone might need some TP or something.
tvc184 Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 if you know of gas stations opened around Beaumont let us know I know that everyone knows this.... but just in case.... even with the store or station closed, you can often get gasoline. If you have a credit card, check cashing card, etc., you can get gas out of the pumps (assuming your card has available credit) by using the card reader on most pumps. As long as there is power to the station and gasoline in the tanks, you can usually fuel up.
