Guest Penny
Not a rocketscientist Coop, but every single advisory today has had a WNW movement as of the existing location, still hasn't started that move stronger to the west. Just in case, i would call a rocket scientist to go over these issues of direction.

Lazeek
Emergency Management has really messed up!!! They better do it at 6am or you talk about problems. F.U.B.A.R. will occur if a Cat4 hits Galveston!!!

dawgfan09
I heard the same thing about them saying it was too late to evacuate Galveston, but my sister just left and had no wait on the ferry. So, it is still possible for them to get off the island tonight.

Bobcatfan4life
Rita was a Cat 3 with 120 MPH winds at landfall and we all know what that storm did. They are predicting Ike to be a Cat 3 or 4 at landfall with 120-140 MPH winds.

Lazeek
Coop what is your latest prediction of landfall? Or do you still think Freeport.... Let's lay off of Coop for his recommendations!!!!! This is his job and he will inform when he can. We cannot expect him to answer every question on this board. KFDM COOP
Sticking with Freeport right now.
PURPLE 4EVER
If I were in Galveston.... I would be gone... If the storm hits near Freeport, the surge might breach the seawall. For sure the west end of the island will be submerged.
LUFAN
You are the man COOP. I am glad to hear that. I have a feeling you are going to be on the money... I HOPE lol
Guest Penny
Just a little sarcasm not directed at anyone in particular. Coops observation that the storm is still moving NW is curious and a critical fact based on what I've seen today.
bruinfan2006
Could it track a little bit north tonight?
akifan94
The GFDL has moved to near Bolivar Peninsula, or at least that is what I can make of it.
bulldog81
Emergency Management has really messed up!!! They better do it at 6am or you talk about problems. For Coop to make this statement means more to me than anything that I have seen about this situation. I'm sure he put a lot of thought in this comment before it was posted. I have heard from someone that says that they do not have the resources to get the 211 people out.
KFDM COOP
Could it track a little bit north tonight? It's been moving NW all Evening. Thing is when it's starts moving WNW somewhere down the line a turn north will occur. The farther north it goes before going back W/NW the closer to us. LUFAN
That is tough to hear. But with so much variance in the track of this storm resources have to be stretched pretty damn thin.

I have heard from someone that says that they do not have the resources to get the 211 people out. Exactly what I was told. From my understanding calling the mandatory makes them responsible for the 211, so they are not calling it.
tvc184
Mayor of Galveston just said that it is too late for the citizens of Galveston to evacuate!!!!! ??? How can it be too late??? That's bull.. I'd be in my car and gone. They aren't saying that you can't leave. They aren't going to lock the gates to the city. It just will not be mandatory. I would be on the move also.
