KFDM COOP Posted September 8, 2008 Author Report Posted September 8, 2008 COOP... all this being said....at this time where do you think is the highest possibility of landfall...i know its only more of an educated guess at this point...but, what are you thinking? tough one....Right now mid Tx coast. I'll know more late tomorrow.
82 5A State Champs Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Lets see what Greg has to say at 10:15!
bulldogdad55 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 I wanna see GFS at 11:15 see any changes
HoopInsider_Cooper Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Latest GFS model keeps Ike south landfall Brownsville/Mexico in 96 hrs.
RonBurgundy68 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 About when will it be off Cuba, and into the gulf?
RonBurgundy68 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Tues afternoon. Well until Wednesday morning, I'm not going to believe any model I see... Lol, and that is no offense to you guys, without you Coop and everyone else who keeps us updated on here, imagine how much crap we'd be in? I've actually learned some stuff about the weather by regularly paying attention to everything you say, and not going to lie, it's really interesting stuff...
RonBurgundy68 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 So by tomorrow night/wednesday morning we'll know where its going or close to that?
TradinUp BH Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 aries456 wipe that brown off your nose, coop is guessing like the rest of us. ;D ;D ;D
RonBurgundy68 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Yes sir! aries456 wipe that brown off your nose, coop is guessing like the rest of us. ;D ;D ;D Haha that's funny... I know this isn't good, but I kind of hope it gets close enough for us to have to evacuate, because I could use a break from school... But yet not close enough to do alot of damage...
RonBurgundy68 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 I'm most likely going to regret saying what I just said, lol...
tvc184 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Well until Wednesday morning, I'm not going to believe any model I see... Lol, and that is no offense to you guys,......... Good idea. Forecasting hurricane landfall more than 48 hours out (or even then) is a guess. The predictions are interesting and cause a lot of conversations but they are unreliable at best. The good thing about the predictions is that it keeps people's minds on the fact that unpredictable storms are out there. Other than that........
Guest WeedBegone Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 I'm most likely going to regret saying what I just said, lol... LOL--nah--your just proving why you need to be in school. Based on your previous post--there is still some educating left in you. LOLTIWMP
skipper Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 friday night is it going to rain are what
Gasilla Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 With this latest prediction, I would think they will hold off on the evacuations. What do you think Coop?
Guest kosmo Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 If they do go ahead and make the evac call, it will be a useless one, because not many people will be leaving.
KFDM COOP Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 With this latest prediction, I would think they will hold off on the evacuations. What do you think Coop? Probably so, they'll wait 1 more day to see projections.
bullets13 Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 what's the chance this thing hooks back towards us?
KFDM COOP Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 30-40% but it looks better for us today. But i want to see it near the TX south of us before anyone is in the clear.
KFDM COOP Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Ike will be moving into the Gulf tonight and should gradually intensify over the next few days. The good news for our area is that the ridge of high pressure to the north of Ike looks likely to remain strong and force Ike to move toward the Brownsville-Corpus Christi areas Friday and Saturday. If landfall is that far to our southwest, there will certainly be no need to evacuate and the impact in our area should just be some rain and a few wind gusts. This is not certain yet as this storm has been rather difficult to forecast so we will need to continue to closely watch Ike's progress. Greg Bostwick Chief Meteorologist KFDM-TV
