KFDM COOP Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Only moving 11 MPH right now.
kicker Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Weather channel just said that if Ike will speed up some it should stay on a westward track into the Corpus area, if it slows down it may make that northern turn Yep just saw that and also the slower it goes the more time it has to intensify :'(
Majestyk Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Wherever this storm makes landfall the inland track is also critical. As you know these things don't make landfall and disappear, during Rita we took refuge north to Lufkin,,not far enough folks, not near far enough.
KFDM COOP Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Have to go to at least the carthage/Tyler area.
kicker Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 evacuation is going to suck. because of what happened last week, the city is going to be hesitant to do a mandatory again unless they're pretty positive we're going to feel the storm. i hope we don't end up in a mad rush trying to all get out of town at the same time. Well, the problem right now is that we still don't know where it is going to go. If there will be an evacuation it prolly wont be until 24 to 36 hours out of landfall. So basically we would be under some type of warning or watch. I say if people dont feel safe tommorrow afternoon to start getting out before an evacuation has to be called. That is if they have the resources to do it.
KFDM COOP Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Our thinking right now is at the very least will see strong Tropical Storm/Cat 1. Hurricane conditons here by Friday Night and especially Saturday.
kicker Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Our thinking right now is at the very least will see strong Tropical Storm/Cat 1. Hurricane conditons here by Friday Night and especially Saturday. Yeah just heard that too.
kicker Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 If you want to see some thing spooky, look at the Tuesday forecast for hurricane rita compared to the latest tuesday forecast for Ike. They are almost identical.
Bobcatfan4life Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Something needs to kick this thing in the butt and speed it up. Coop any chance of it speeding up once it gets fully into the gulf?
tvc184 Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Our thinking right now is at the very least will see strong Tropical Storm/Cat 1. Hurricane conditons here by Friday Night and especially Saturday. Heavy on the "at the very least". From the weather briefing that just ended..... it is still a toss of the dice. No one is out of the woods yet.
tvc184 Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Something needs to kick this thing in the butt and speed it up. Coop any chance of it speeding up once it gets fully into the gulf? It is expected to speed up some over the Gulf. From what I just got from the briefing, the faster it moves, the better it is for us?
Guest baseball25 Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 it hasn't sped up yet.......at 10mph...its better hurry up.also it looks like its move a little nw right now making a jog http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/gmex/loop-avn.html
tvc184 Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 The next 48 hours are going to be interesting.
KFDM COOP Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 The track. It will be interesting to see how much more North the track shifts.
82 5A State Champs Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 That's just great!!!(sarcasm)
pseudo Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Hey Coop, just looked at a European model track that appeared to be very close to us. How far north do you think it might go? Looking eerily similar to 3 years ago!!!! Also, have you heard anything about when they may cancel schools?
KFDM COOP Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Haven't heard on Schools yet. The European Model has done well with IKE so far.
pete22600 Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 coop what is the percentage of it tracking more north toward us
KFDM COOP Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 40% or so i would say. We'll know by late Wednesday.
Lefty99 Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Poor Coop has got the task of explaining all this stuff to quite a few ppl on this site not to mention his reg. duties! Keep up the good work Coop and hang in there! ;D
