HoopInsider_Cooper Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 1am NHC intermediate advisory up: Ike moving WNW @ 9mph, maximum winds @ 100mph, pressure @ 946mb.
WOS87 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Where ya headed Bulldog? Â I am waiting till tomorrow late night so hopefully the traffic won't be as bad....It will be easier on the kids...they can sleep. Â However, my wife has to stay behind at the hospital! Â :'( I'm stuck here in Houston for the long haul as I have to be there for the hospital I work at as well. Â Not looking good for Houston from the last couple of updates....
lcm2007ms Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 1am NHC intermediate advisory up: Ike moving WNW @ 9mph, maximum winds @ 100mph, pressure @ 946mb. thats still pretty slow
Guest baseball25 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 LU fan come on man these models started to shift more north at 2:00 pm yesterday...i mean everyone has been saying that its all about the high if it weakens and if does its going to be a close call....I mean gustav was easier to predict the gfdl did a great job and we still had a mandatory evac. Ike all along was going to be the one we had to watch becasue it had la,tx,mex/tx hit, corpus, and then now towards us ...do you see the trend here i mean they got to have a clue.
TXsTorn8do Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Oh sheesh.....Good luck over that way!
LUFAN Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Finally that bastard is starting to get some bounce in his step. Man I got a good story for the night. I just had to run to work to start site preperations. This drunk guy almost hit me and we both got pulled over. The cop made me and the other driver do sobriety tests, needless to say he got hauled off to jail. Kinda funny... it was a close miss, hopefully Ike will be the same.
Guest baseball25 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 I am glad its picked up speed but it was supposed to do this movement 24 hours ago thats whats bad...I mean its going to make that north turn but when does it...
TXsTorn8do Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Oman....LUFAN! Where did this happen?
LUFAN Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 baseball, we have been going at this crap all night. People arent going to intentionally hurt their careers... come on man these models have been swaying back and forth like a drunk sailor. Baseball you should run for office since your are such a great decision maker.
LUFAN Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 The feeder road on hwy 69 by the fannett road exit.
Guest baseball25 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 man i just talk to my 2 friends that are meteorologist and this is what they tell me and they tell me stuff what to look for and over the past 8 years i been learning more about this stuff. Thats all i am saying man just speaking the truth
HoopInsider_Cooper Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Faster than the 7mph he was crawling earlier...He will pick up probably quicker once he straightens out. Slowed due to a weakness in the ridge over SE US...Now that it is filled in, he will hopefully push along quicker.
LUFAN Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 I understand that you have friends that are meteorologists, but this is a very inexact science. They have to go with the best intel for the moment.
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Finally that bastard is starting to get some bounce in his step. Man I got a good story for the night. Guest baseball25 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 I know but i am just telling you what this storm has been doing...it was supposed to go wnw 24 hours ago... it was supposed to pick up speed 24 hours ago and it just now doing that....the gfdl has been a realiable model and the euro has been saying freeport for the last 3 runs and gfdl around galveston the last 3 runs..so all i am saying everything is starting to smooth out a little bit with the storm because i tell you what 24 hours of a nw movement changes the forecast alot and thats what it did today.
HoopInsider_Cooper Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 The stronger the slower but they tend to move quicker when moving in a straight line. EDIT: Relax guys...Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but please use common sense. We don't like disruption in our lives and this is about to become very stressful and disruptive.
LUFAN Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 How good are these models 72 to 96 hours out... not very good... That is all I am saying. You really don't know, you place the assets where you think they will best be suited. Either way I hope the European model is correct and GDFL is off this time.
TXsTorn8do Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Hope you are right HOOP! Â ;D LUFAN....glad you are ok....Drunk drivers need to be put under the jail! Â > Hey HOOP! Â The 2 a.m. update will be the next big one.....then when's the next? Have you heard of any Orange County Schools closing??? Â It's mind boggling that the games are canceled but so far the schools haven't??? ??? Many people can't and or won't leave because the schools are not officially closed. Â It's going to be hell if they close them early during the day and parents have to go get their kiddo's and then try to leave. I got it...that's how they can stagger the evacuations! Â Just close Jefferson County Schools at 8am....Hardin County at 10 then Orange at Noon! Â ??? Â ;D I am getting delirously tired watching and waiting.....sheesh.
Guest baseball25 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 http://www.skeetobiteweather.com/picservice.asp?t=m&m=09 starting to get clustered together now
LUFAN Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 So you think freeport or more north baseball.
HoopInsider_Cooper Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 No closing yet in OC but all their football games are now canned so their is an indication where they are going. I hope to have EURO soon...After that, NHC will post new track at 4 am then the important model runs come out at 6:30 am (GFDL, GFS, HWRF).
ST413 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 i know its all we have to go by, Â but even if they are clustered didn't they say the are rarely right o the mark. Â they are only models.
Guest baseball25 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 euro comes out around 2 right??
TXsTorn8do Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Thanks HOOP! We appreciate you! ;D
