TXsTorn8do Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 XG....not that I am the resident expert....cause I'm not....but.....I would much rather be up there than down here when it comes ashore. To answer your question, you will probably have some tropical storm winds and depending if it slows down....some rain....or ALOT of rain. Keep us all on the Gulf Coast in your prayers....this is truly nerve racking! >
XGPanther Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 I will definetly do that. Ive been to all major hurricanes, before and after, Im an EMT, and work for UTMB, which runs the TDCJ hospital in Galveston. As of 2 PM today, there were no plans to evacuate, and I havent gotten a phone call yet so who knows. Ive been through a couple tornadoes, but I think its ALOT different. My prayers will be with everybody along the coast. If anybody has more info on possible Waco weather from this, please chime in. :-\
TXsTorn8do Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 You guys won't have to leave.... Down here there are no calls for evacuations...but....it's been said they will possibly be called sometime later today. I will tell you that there are no hotels available up your way...LA, MS, AL...I found 2 rooms in Pensacola....Wow! You will have alot of folks from down here coming to visit....tell everyone to be kind. And thanks for all you do....My wife is a RN at the local hospital and if we have to leave then she has to stay....they waited to late to call the evacuations and all the resources have been sent South! > There is really not enough time to get everyone out. Rita did 50k damage to our house....if you look at both tracks...they are almost the SAME! That's why everyone is nervous...plus with this one...we are on the bad side....At least with Rita we were on the good side and just had to deal with 120mph winds. Thanks again and maybe we'll see you soon! :'(
HoopInsider_Cooper Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 NHC 4am track: TIME TO GO This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up IKE CONTINUES TO EXHIBIT SOME UNUSUAL STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS. DROPSONDE AND FLIGHT-LEVEL WIND DATA INDICATE THAT THE INTENSITY IS STILL NEAR 85 KT...WHICH IS ANOMALOUSLY LOW FOR THE REPORTED CENTRAL PRESSURE. THE LATTER VALUE...946 MB...WOULD NORMALLY CORRESPOND TO A BORDERLINE CATEGORY 3/4 HURRICANE. THE TROPICAL CYCLONE HAS A VERY LARGE WIND FIELD...PARTICULARLY OVER THE NORTHERN SEMICIRCLE AS OBSERVED BY BUOYS AND SHIPS OVER THE NORTHERN GULF. HOWEVER IT CONTINUES TO HAVE A SMALL INNER CORE WITH AN EYE JUST UNDER 10 N MI IN DIAMETER. THERE HAS BEEN A DOUBLE WIND MAXIMUM...ALTHOUGH HURRICANE HUNTER OBSERVATIONS SUGGEST THAT THE OUTER WIND BAND IS BEGINNING TO CONTRACT. OCEANIC CONDITIONS APPEAR NEUTRAL ALONG THE PATH OF IKE AS IT WILL LIKELY TRAVERSE JUST TO THE NORTH OF A COUPLE OF WARM EDDIES OVER THE WESTERN GULF. GLOBAL MODELS CONTINUE TO INDICATE A FAVORABLE UPPER-LEVEL ENVIRONMENT OVER THE NEXT DAY OR TWO WITH MODEST VERTICAL SHEAR AND ANTICYCLONIC FLOW. IKE IS FORECAST TO STRENGTHEN TO MAJOR HURRICANE STATUS PRIOR TO LANDFALL...WHICH IS SIMILAR TO WHAT WAS INDICATED IN THE PREVIOUS OFFICIAL INTENSITY FORECAST. FIXES FROM THE CURRENT AIR FORCE HURRICANE HUNTER MISSION INDICATE THAT THE MOTION HAS TURNED BACK TO THE WEST-NORTHWEST...I.E. 295/8. THE TRACK MODELS REMAIN IN GOOD AGREEMENT ON A CONTINUED WEST- NORTHWESTWARD MOTION FOR THE NEXT 36-48 HOURS...TO THE SOUTH OF A STRONG MID-TROPOSPHERIC RIDGE THAT EXTENDS FROM THE SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES TO TEXAS. DYNAMICAL MODELS PREDICT THAT THE PORTION OF THE RIDGE OVER TEXAS WILL WEAKEN IN ABOUT 48 HOURS AND THIS WOULD CAUSE IKE TO TURN TO THE NORTHWEST AND NORTH. THERE CONTINUES TO BE SOME DISAGREEMENT AMONG THE MODELS AS TO HOW SOON AND HOW SHARP OF A TURN WILL OCCUR. HOWEVER...THE CONSENSUS OF OUR MOST RELIABLE TRACK FORECAST MODELS IS UNCHANGED FROM THE PREVIOUS ADVISORY. THEREFORE I HAVE MADE ESSENTIALLY NO CHANGES TO THE OFFICIAL TRACK FORECAST. THIS IS BETWEEN THE LATEST HWRF RUN...WHICH IS TO THE LEFT OF THE OFFICIAL FORECAST...AND THE LATEST GFDL RUN....WHICH IS TO THE RIGHT. IN THIS CASE IT IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT NOT TO FOCUS ON THE EXACT FORECAST TRACK SINCE DAMAGING WINDS EXTEND SO FAR FROM THE CENTER. THE EXPANSION OF THE 34-KT WIND FIELD OVER THE NORTHEAST QUADRANT NECESSITATES AN EXTENSION OF THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING A LITTLE FATHER NORTHWARD AND EASTWARD ALONG THE NORTHERN GULF COAST.
Guest JoesBros Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 I had a feeling this was going to happen
TXsTorn8do Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 You sure Hoop??? I thought this was a good thing staying WNW?

Castor27 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Mandatory for Orange and Jefferson county immediately
tvc184 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Mandatory for Orange and Jefferson county immediately I know this is very serious business but it is also a tad comical. We can't order a mandatory due to resources but we are going to order it anyway after we are saying that we can't but we can't get every out but we.......... Geez. I do have a question though. Other than a news flash on KFDM, who ordered it and if it was ordered, what are the plans, if any? I am hoping that at least maybe this will get the people off of work that need to leave if they wish to or can.
bullets13 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Becky Ames is on tv lying as we speak. talking about how it was going to corpus, so they didn't call it yesterday, and that the storm had turned in the last 3 hours. how did i know, but she didnt?

KDOSullivan Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 grizzly you too! I think we are staying behind as well....we have plenty of steaks in the freezer that will need to be cooked! ;D We will pray for your safe travel and return..... Don't come to BC if your gonna try to take advantage of people that have left....we will all be in our boats.....with our neighborhood watch program! I found some T-bone steaks too that will be cooked. Be careful down in BC. We are in Mauriceville, and probably won't need the boat. ( Maybe)
KDOSullivan Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Also, Buna ISD, Kirbyville ISD, and Evadale ISD will be closed Thursday-Fri. so the " Yellow dogs" won't be on the road slowing down traffic.
Guest tchawks99 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 the authorities dropped the ball on this one..I mean the authorities as mayor, judge, county officials.. Onstead of sticking out there chest and patting thereself on the back from Gustav they should have been more decisive in this one.Very dissappointed in them
XGPanther Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 man this projected path is changing like I change my underwear.... This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up At 4 AM, pretty much all the models showed a Freeport Galveston area, now at 7 AM, its showing a bay city victoria area. So basically, I think the entire coast needs to keep an eye on this thing, cause only Ike knows for sure what hes doing
