Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Coop, now you are making me nervous!!! Is the storm surge the reason behind your latest post? 20ft storm surge in P.A. dude.
stevieray Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 My dad has to stay behind since he's the only electrician for the Vidor ISD maintenance department, so me my mom and my brother are leaving for Dallas at 6 tomorrow morning, right before everything starts happening... Everyone stay safe! May the Lord be with you and your family and all our SE Texas neighbors who are evacuating or staying behind. Great Post....I second that, prayers from Fort Worth
PNG70 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Anyone have any idea how the Storm Surge affects Nederland and Port Neches?
RonBurgundy68 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Anyone have any idea how the Storm Surge affects Nederland and Port Neches? I heard that anything south of I-10 has a chance of storm surge, the closer to the coast, the worse...
jetski Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I may be incorrect, but I thought I heard it was just Jasper & Newton counties having a mandatory evacuation, not Hardin County. Â Come on Hamilton, what's up with that? Just heard on KJAS in Jasper that Jasper, Newton, and Hardin counties have issued mandatory evac orders as of 9:30 CDT.
bulldogdad55 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I'm up here in Dallas PNG..i wish someone would tell us...i'm in Nederland...i hope my house is safe...just found out about the 20 storm surge...YIKES!
stevieray Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 If you think you need to get out don't second guess yourself or wait for someone to tell you that you have to leave....Just get out of town
PNG70 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Sounds like Port Neches and Nederland could expect 5 -7 foot of water with the Surge :(
tvc184 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Sounds like Port Neches and Nederland could expect 5 -7 foot of water with the Surge :( Yes, that is the current forecast. You staying?
bulldogdad55 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 it may be expected...but i don't think water will get to 5-7 feet in nederland area
KFDM COOP Posted September 11, 2008 Author Report Posted September 11, 2008 All we can do is pray!! :'(
bulldogdad55 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 There you are COOP..hope your on high ground...do you really think we're gonna receive 5-7 ft. of water in Nederland?
KFDM COOP Posted September 11, 2008 Author Report Posted September 11, 2008 I'm in NE Texas in Carthage. If a 20 foot surge comes in, Port Arthur goes under water, their sea wall is 15 feet. Not sure at this time on how much salt water Mid county would get! Hope everyone stays safe and i'll be on from time to time.

Bulldog92 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I may be incorrect, but I thought I heard it was just Jasper & Newton counties having a mandatory evacuation, not Hardin County. Â Come on Hamilton, what's up with that? Just heard on KJAS in Jasper that Jasper, Newton, and Hardin counties have issued mandatory evac orders as of 9:30 CDT. I may have heard it wrong too, but Hardin should be doing the same thing...

stevieray Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Quick question.....Is the 20 foot surge prediction at high tide or will it be higher if it hits at that time?
WOSHIGHc/o2001 Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Well I evacuated to south of Lafayette. Â Not the smartest, but out of the Golden Triangle. Â I hope everyone listens and gets the hell out of there. Â
