HoopInsider_Cooper Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 From The Examiner: Beaumont, Texas – Entergy Texas, Inc. is making progress in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike and is now projecting an October 6 restoration of electric service to all customers. Company officials announced today that power will be restored to 80 percent of Beaumont within 15 days, weather permitting. For customers in The Woodlands north of Houston, some power was restored Monday night with the majority tonight. All other population centers served by Entergy Texas will be 80 percent restored by September 25. Many customers throughout Entergy's service area will have their power on before the estimated time. The pace of restoration will steadily increase as Entergy Texas completes assessments and continues repairing damage to the transmission and distribution systems. Also, restoration estimates are based on the numbers of customers who can take power. Tens of thousands of Entergy customers in Texas will likely have their electricity service returned every day during the restoration process. Progress will be slowest in areas that are the most severely damaged or that are physically remote. "Let me emphasize that our crews are committed to getting all power restored as safely and as quickly as possible," said Joe Domino, president and CEO for Entergy Texas, Inc. "Even so, we are not in a race. We still have a lot of work in front of us that will take weeks to complete. "Meanwhile, we appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers," he said. "And we want assure them that at this very hour, Entergy is doing everything in its power to get their power back on." Entergy Texas serves all or part of 26 Southeast Texas counties, which cover some 15,320 square miles. Of the 395,000 homes and businesses served by Entergy Texas, 392,000 or 99 percent were left without power. As of today, the company has completed 70 percent of its assessments in Southeast Texas. Power has been restored to about 18,138 or 5 percent. Hurricane Ike pounded Southeast Texas beginning late Friday and throughout most of the day Saturday. By the time the storm passed through Entergy Texas' service area, 99 percent of the company's 395,000 customers were without power. Damage from the storm was more severe than that from Hurricane Rita which struck the area in September 2005. Estimated 100 percent restoration times for other cities and their surrounding communities include: Area and Date for 100 percent restoration Orange, Vidor 9/21/2008 Navasota 9/22/2008 Port Arthur, Port Neches, Nederland, Groves 9/23/2008 Winnie, Anahuac 9/25/2008 Dayton, Ames, Daisetta, Batson, Saratoga 9/25/2008 The Woodlands 9/25/2008 Woodville 9/29/2008 Silsbee, Lumberton, Kountze 9/29/2008 Conroe 9/29/2008 Huntsville, Madisonville 9/29/2008 New Caney 10/5/2008 Cleveland 10/5/2008 Beaumont, Bevil Oaks, Sour Lake 10/6/2008 Country Club Estates near Port Arthur Flooded – no date determined Bolivar Peninsula Flooded – no date determined Sabine Pass Flooded – no date determined Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 17, Entergy Texas will open Customer Information Centers for customers who wish to talk to Entergy representatives in person. DPfootballPrincess Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 In Deweyville: Off of Hwy 12 in Deweyville near the school has power, and Woodland Ridge Acres neighborhood towards Little Cypress. A majority of Hartburgh, also off of Hwy 87 people have regained power and in Kirkendahl too. Areas of Devils Pocket and possibly all of them up there have power. With these areas having power, i am assuming the power is on at the elementary, middle, and high school campuses, but not positive on that at all.

badndn Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 A good chunk of Mid-County got power last night. Just because you got power, doesn't mean a good "Chunk" of MC got power. No power in Groves or most of PN. That's a good chunk! But after spending the day in BC helping clean out houses, I am very excited to go home this evening to my generator powered home. God bless all those folks in BC, HF, and Orange. Going to Labelle tomorrow to help. Pray for these people they have a long road ahead.
