Guest coachacola Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 From Perryn Keys of the Beaumont Enterprise: The hardwood court escaped any damage, and the two basketball goals sit where they always have -- on either end, just beyond the baselines, waiting for players to roll back in and fire away. Fiberglass insulation is strewn across the concourse. The Red Room, which overlooks Cardinal Stadium, has taken serious blows to its windows, ceiling tiles and other assorted doodads. The women’s study hall, the marketing office and the sports-information office all took water, and no one yet knows if mold has crept in. The southwest corner is a bona fide disaster, blown open with a hole that’s big enough for an F-250, a riding lawn mower and John Goodman’s entire family. Yards upon yards of ceiling tiles are missing, along with windows, poles and drywall. The southeast corner is still exposed to the elements, too, with its giant windows missing. The southside concourse now has an open-air view of the football stadium. In other words, if another driving rainstorm comes through Beaumont soon, well, the Montagne Center will take another hit. Amazingly, Tubbs said he believes the arena will be ready for basketball season, which is scheduled to open Nov. 15. Link: http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/local/28471674.html
