TexasTerror Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 This should make North Carolina interesting with 15 Div I schools, if the BoT approves it. That's as many as Texas! -------------- Phil Dubois delivered his answer to the UNC Charlotte board of trustees on Thursday: Yes, he’s ready for some football. The UNC Charlotte chancellor recommended the school add a football program beginning in 2013, with estimated startup costs of $45 million. Trustees will make the final call with a vote in November on whether football is added. “In my entire professional life, I have not faced a more difficult decision,†he said. “And I say that because it has required a consideration of not only what people may say they want today or what we may be able to afford today or what students can legitimately be asked to pay today, but also a consideration of what will matter to the university 20 years from now.†This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up
Guest coachacola Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Good for them. But $45 million seems like a lot of money to start up a football program, but they do need a stadium to play in. I doubt Lamar would be starting football if they didn't already have a stadium.
Guest abovetherim Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 After $25 million the football complex will "look new". Have you noticed the fieldhouse in your signature is different than the one posted in June? It is different if you haven't noticed. I believe they must have got a bigtime donor because earlier they were saying $18 million for all the renovations and now it's $25 million.

I found that photo on Leo Daly's website and did notice that it was different than the original. I think it looks nicer than the one posted in June. I keep searching the internet for any new drawings of the stadium but no luck yet. With the damage done to the Montagne Center I wonder if they'll try to renovate it sooner than later. Maybe they'll get some FEMA money to help repair the Montagne Center like they did for the stadium's press box.
