Guest abovetherim Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Pretty good but it doesn't hold a candle to the Lamar basketball schedule. That said, SHSU may have a better home schedule.

That said, SHSU may have a better home schedule. Lamar has the better schedule in terms of name opponents, particularly on the road. SHSU does have the better overall home schedule. That Wright State game is my favorite one. Western Michigan is too young this year, they may be fun on the return trip up there. I just love the two in-state money games. May as well play those in-state schools if we're going to play two money games.
Guest coachacola Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 We do have 2 common opponents in Texas Tech and UL-Lafayette. Like Lamar, SHSU also has 4 home games against non-D1 teams. I think those games drags down overall attendance because it's almost a given that it's going to be a blowout win.

SHSU and Lamar are not interested in playing too many money games. We have two and you guys have 2.5 (the MTE is quasi-money game, I guess). Until we can get a few more schools interested in giving us our home-and-home, we'll continue to see it...of course, neither of our schools are interested in going to UT-Pan!

Guest mffl Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Well it's good to finally be back on board! Now back on topic, this schedule looks pretty good, Marlin always seems good playing the low and mid majors but that never seems to produce any publicity.

Now back on topic, this schedule looks pretty good, Marlin always seems good playing the low and mid majors but that never seems to produce any publicity. Perhaps with Southland TV, a few of these attractive mid-major games (I can see NT vs SHSU easily) will get televised...the game against Wisc-Milwaukee in H'ville two years ago got on ESPN's family of networks (ERT, I believe). The Texas Tech game of course got the most pub and we coupled it with the TSUS Board of Regents quarterly meeting, so they got to see how big hoops is at SHSU. What are your guys thoughts on SLC TV's basketball slate? Probably won't see many OOC because no one has decent schedules at home, but you guys thinking we'll see a "Game of the Week" in SLC?
