So, on this 44-year, plus-one-day anniversary of its opening, here's a toast to Blankety-Blank-Cardinal Stadium. May you host many more historic Lamar moments.
Guest coachacola Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 How about Papa John's Cardinal Stadium? Oh wait, that's already taken. Here's some of my guesses: Conn's Cardinal Stadium Jason's Deli Cardinal Stadium ExxonMobil Cardinal Stadium Valero Cardinal Stadium Motiva Cardinal Stadium Total Cardinal Stadium Walter Umphrey Cardinal Stadium Abovetherim Cardinal Stadium Any other big companies or rich alumni based in the area?
Guest abovetherim Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Funny coachacola, I may be able to afford buying Coach Woodard a cup of coffee.
TexasTerror Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 With Harold LaFitte scoring the first points in stadium history on an 11-yard run midway in the first quarter, Lamar went on to a 21-0 victory over East Central Oklahoma before a crowd estimated to be at 15,900. Good ole ECU (as they prefer to be called) -- SHSU played them this year! Perhaps LU can get them on the slate in the future, perhaps for the 50th anniversary of Cardinal Stadium.
