1. Hebert

2. West Brook

3. West Orange- Stark

4. South Park

5. Jasper

While you were at it why not sub out Jasper, WOS and WB for BCP, French & Forrest Park?

:)

There not in my top 5, but if I were able to do a honorable mention list it would Include:

Newton, Kountze and based on recent history (2007)... Lumberton.  What a club they have up there in the woods!!

PN-G-----Been to more state championships than any other in SETX, Lots of tradition.

WO-S----Wins more games than anyone in the area, Has one of the highest winning %'s in the state.

TJ-------Was a greatprogram for many years, Played in some big games, Put out alot of players and coaches. Sad to see this school go

Nederland- Been to a couple of championships and won 1 for sure. Good tradition, Nice fan base nowdays also.

Im not putting WB here because they are a relativley new school compared to the others on here and you said historically.

Jasper/Newton-----These two schools have had winning ways for as long as I can remember I know Newton has won 2 or 3 Championships I beleive and Jasper has been there I dont know if they have ever won. But I like both of em for there winning.

Honorable mention

Vidor------Not for winning but for there unique tradition and spirit they have even though they havent won alot they still love there team.

They don't have "one of", they have THE best winning percentage in the state.

I think that WOS is at the top of this list no doubt. As for year in and year out success, no team in this area is even close. One losing season in their history.

I totally agree. As for programs, the Stangs are at the top. Now if you are talking about traditions and support along with the on field success, then you have to go with PNG.

This how i would rank the teams in my opinion based on what i know...

WOS- They have the state titles and they are always good plus the winning %, say what you want, but they should be #1 on everyones list.

Newton- They have some state titles and you can always count on them making the playoffs, they are always good.

PNG/Nederland- Have a lot of tradition and are usually good but i would put a notch below the top 2.

Jasper/Silsbee-  Jasper made it all the way to the title game in 04', these teams are consistently in the playoffs usually.

West Brook-

I wouldnt count schools that arent around anymore because how can they have "tradition" when they dont exist anymore?

A "Tradition" is defined by Websters as: 1. An inherited pattern of thought or action.  2. A specific practice of long standing.  So, that would include just a few of our area schools, teams with recent success (Lumberton, Kountze, Buna, etc. would fail to make the "Tradition" list.  And no doubt, there are some teams from years ago, (defunct schools) that would be included.  But as far as active schools: 1.  WO-S, 2. PN-G, 3. Nederland, 4. Newton, 5. Jasper.

Well, I guess that would depend on how much the support part of it is weighted. There is no doubt, PNG's support of their team is unmatched in this area and probably the state.

To add to my previous post, I think you could really narrow that list down to 2 schools: WO-S and Newton.  Others have had success, but year in and year out, these guys get it done.  Are there any other head coaches in the state with the tenure that these 2 have (Hooks and Barbay), if so I would love to know.  There is only one reason coaches stay for this amount of time, WIN BABY WIN!  They have built these schools Tradition.  I can still remember Newton coming to Buna as a kid, they were to be feared.  Back in the early '80's, if I remember right, their stripes on the sides of their pants were zig-zagged, even as a Lil' Cougar, it was almost like a college team was coming to play our boys when Newton showed up.
