Kingwood Park replaces Huffman.  I hear BH lost 4 D1 pitchers.  Not sure what their JV team was like.  If anyones know their JV record, please pass it on.

Barbers Hill lost all of their starting pitchers, Kendall Thamm (Angelina), Ross Hales ( Tex A&M ), Hunter Silva ( San Jac ), and Jonathan Kelley ( Galevston ) . All of these kids drew interest from MLB scouts and D1s. They will be tough to replace. With that said, I still think BH competes for the district title. They have several arms that have waited their turn because of the guys that were in front of them. Starting catcher ( THSWA hon-mention All State ) Jake Ponder returns, starting 1B Alex Rocha ( drawing interest from D1s ), starting 2b Cody Clifton ( district new-comer of the year last year ) returns, along with starting ss Tony Carmona. 2/3's of the OF also returns. Look for pitching to come from Rocha, Jay Burditt, Carmona, Matt Peterson, and junior Michael Bounds. Strong hitting Kolby Henscey should fill up one of the outfield spots.

Hopefully Kpark will compete.  Unfortunatly I see them going 0fer.  There is no way they can play against real 4A teams with only 3 classes.

Barbers Hill lost a ton of pitching. We are in our first year, but should be able to compete. Our lack of quality depth could be our only downfall.  We have 3-4 solid starting pitchers, but only one of those has any varsity experience. I think our coaching can match anyone in the area. We have played well this Fall and everyone should be healthy for Spring.

That being said, we'll just have to wait and see.

Do not count out the GCM Patriots.  Lots of talent 1-9.  The only thing missing is depth.  Starting pitching will match up with anyone in the district. I'd be very surprised if they were not in the running come playoff time.

KPark finished 11-1 last year in 22-3a.  Winning the district with Fresh and Sophes.  But that was in 3a.  I think they will struggle in 4a this year.

Cody Butler, LH, Jr.  Pitched some for RSS varsity in 2008

Mason Ball, RH, Jr.  Pitched well this summer.

Oracio Rodriguez, RH, Jr.  Played for RSS JV in 2008.

Price Jacobs, RH, Soph.  Played for RSS JV in 2008.

Josh Stuart, RH, Soph. Pitched well this summer.

Chance Czerwonka, RH, Fresh.

There are others, but these are the ones who stand out right now. I think Butler, Jacobs, and Czerwonka will be the "go to" guys when it counts.

1.Crosby

2.BH

3.GP

4.Dayton/Kpark

Crosby is bringing back 7 starters which happen to be the top 7 in the batting order.

They will be stacked with bats all the way down the line up with a solid pitching staff.

They will win the district in a close race with BH.

No not at all. Last year's team underachieved tremendously with the pitching staff they had. I know they lost an unbelievable high school pitching staff from last year but the hitting as a team was not very good. I believe they do have a few quality arms that will pitch very well and 3 others that will pitch well enough to keep them in games. I do think the hitting and the defense will be much improved from last year's team. I can see this team going at least 2 to 3 rounds deep into the playoffs based on the hitting and defense alone. If they get a little more from their #4-#6 pitchers than expected, this team could go very deep into the playoffs.

    • Nah… to be completely honest, I think it goes like this.  I’m split on it.    Part of me says that there’s a segment of voters who believe that trump should be the ruler, whatever that means. It’s about 25% of R voters according to polls. They’re the hardcore Trump loyalists… the kind of people who would travel to DC in the winter to hear Trump speak at a rally, then ransack the Capitol… maybe trump doesn’t believe his own “you’ll never have to vote again” rhetoric-but he’s just throwing red meat to the fascism supporting minority of the R party. Kinda like he does when he says racist crap to fire up the minority of his followers (cough, Baddog, cough) who really don’t like brown skins or foreigners. You know, Trump doesn’t really want unilateral power, he just needs to whip up his voters who think he should have unilateral power. It’s possible, right? Then the other side of me sees who he was willing to say or do ANYTHING to remain in office, even after it became obvious that he didn’t have the votes. The fact that he refuses to accept reality as late as the debate last week makes me think, “no… this guy is the real deal, willing to do ANYTHING to get back in office and then willing to do anything to keep it and/or hand it off to his heir apparent.     Over time, things have ping-ponged back and forth between monarchies/fascists who get overrun by the masses, then that form of government (populist) erodes to the point where a strong man seizes power.  I think we fought off socialism/communism as a republic and in 2024 we’re fighting off a facist-style movement where enough of the population has enough faith in one leader to give them absolute power.    But that’s just my opinion. Trump and his hardcore followers (the ones who aren’t in prison for their 1/6 activities represent the biggest internal threat to our democracy that we’ve seen in my lifetime.  The fact that it’s originating from “my” side is what’s particularly troubling to me. I would have expected the left to converge around a popular leftist, not the right.
    • I don’t tune in all the time, but I do like Kat. I’m know the studio audience and tv audience enjoyed the show.
    • It looks like Tyler won this game last year and both team look to be much improved.  I think Lufkin may struggle a little out of the box bringing the QB back in, but the Lufkin D will help in that transition. I see Lufkin by 14 as Tyler should struggle to score. Seeya next week 👊
