hockeyfan Posted August 14, 2006 Report Posted August 14, 2006 http://www.wildcattershockey.com/news/fullstory.php?id=236 Yeats is a terrific goalie. He played against the Wildcatters in 04-05(I think it was the New Year's game). Tough opponent, so I'm glad to see he's on our side now!
KFDM COOP Posted August 14, 2006 Report Posted August 14, 2006 Awesome. I think the Wildcatters coach is going to be on next Sunday's Sports extra.
hockeyfan Posted August 14, 2006 Author Report Posted August 14, 2006 That would be great! I've been watching every Sports Extra.
DenisGScott Posted August 14, 2006 Report Posted August 14, 2006 And I'd bet a beer that the signing does not get mentioned on the 6 or 10pm sports
hockeyfan Posted August 14, 2006 Author Report Posted August 14, 2006 I e-mailed several people at the different stations. If this story doesn't get some GOOD coverage, then..well...I will just have to try harder. :x
AshlyHasBeen Posted August 14, 2006 Report Posted August 14, 2006 You can send mine to 12, I have a graphic on it for 6 and 10 tonight, I told you it all depends who's working.
DenisGScott Posted August 14, 2006 Report Posted August 14, 2006 Be still my heart actually saw Yeats' announcement of both 4 and 6 didnt catch 12.
KFDM COOP Posted August 14, 2006 Report Posted August 14, 2006 See, there was Hockey. The deal is with HS football here now and the sports guys only get limited time their going to cover HS football first. Just being honest.
DenisGScott Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 even with HS football first, to add in the PRO team here behind the volleyball team?????? I know HS football here, I went to WB, but except for when I was doing the games on radio for KLVI I have not been to one HS game of any type since i graduated. I know people have kids on the team or in the band I completely understand that, one day I'll be in that situation as my daughter grows up, but as far as in being in general public if I'm going to see a game I want to see other than high school.
hockeyfan Posted August 15, 2006 Author Report Posted August 15, 2006 I know all about how HS football is "king" around here. But what I don't understand is how volleyball(like DG said), Lamar, softball, etc.. In other words, the Wildcatters end up coming last no matter what is going on. To quote DGScott back in June: I admit to being negative towards the media here when it comes to sports coverage, they could have 2 high schools collect cockroaches and race them and it would get more airtime and print coverage then the only real PRO team in town. Thats not a knock against the area high schools either I have kids that will be that age soon, I went to school here so come fall I understand the religion that HS football is here. But to lead the 10pm sports with a story that a preseason football magazine hits the newstands on Tuesday is going overboard. I've been using the cockroach quote ever since!
AshlyHasBeen Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 I can only speak for myself, but usually I put stories without any video lower in the rundown, during the season their games always lead.
DenisGScott Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Can't buy that one for the reason that if LU plays a road game somewhere and there is no video of it, it is almost always the lead story, simple LU graphic over your shoulder follwed a by a screen with the numbers and stats
AshlyHasBeen Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Not me. I go with VO unless it's a huge game for Lamar.
