Y'all know i can sniff out all the recruiting stuff... this kid also had interest from Oklahoma State.

Fort Bend Hightower High School is primed at a long run to state this season. The reason why - the Hurricanes are absolutely loaded with talent. Two rising seniors have already made Division I commitments and now a third has done so as well. Joshua Wesley, a thick 6-foot-5, 240-pound post, is currently busy helping out the Hightower football team but hoops will be his future in college in the Southland Conference.

"I committed to Lamar last weekend," Wesley said. "Coach (Roccaforte) has shown a great interest in me and I could see that he was really sincere and that he wanted me. I went on a visit there and I liked the facilities and the team. They've got a lot of people coming back next year and there's good chemistry."

Prior to committing, Wesley had been talking to Texas State and he also held offers from Long Island and Wagner. But Lamar not only was the best fit for him on the court, the opportunity to contribute immediately was there as well.

"I like the way they play - they get up and down, which is the style we play at Hightower," Wesley said. "They want me to play the four and the five, but I can also play the three if it's needed. I think I'll be able to play immediately."

With his size, Wesley was convinced to come out for the Hurricanes football team and is hoping to help them get far in the playoffs. But once the season ends, it will be basketball from here on out. "I've been hooping since Day One," Wesley said. "After the season, I'll do some John Lucas workouts and get stronger. Then after (basketball season) I'll head up (to Lamar) in the summer and start doing conditioning."
