LC-M FOOTBALL PROGRAM

For me, this is hard to believe because you are basically saying he (Coach Moody) is willing to lose and play his "pets or favorites". One thing about coaching at all level from HS to the NFL is if you aren't successful (winning) on the field you will not be employed for long.

I dont agree with the fact he is playing his pets I think sometime his view may be a little skewed, but whoever he is playing is not working and maybe he should try another route weather it is changing positions are subbing. I dont think at this point it is an easy fix.Good luck to them.

Vince Young...really?

My apologies for everyone think that I was comparing Kris' ability to Young...

I was talking about his "mobility", the fact that he was a threat as a runner and a passer...and a blocker...

Young was not one dimensional, and neither was Omey...but Young had stronger athletic abilities...

Omey, however, took the Bears deep into the playoffs...only to run into perennial power LaMarque...and even then, we at least gave a good account of ourselves...

Several things need to change in order for LCM to be competitive in FB.

1) To many COACHING CHANGES . In every sport at LCM. Not enough EXPERIENCED COACHES stay .

2) JH program needs a mix of older and younger coaches that are willing to TEACH FOOTBALL.

3) LCM needs a coach who is not afraid to "BUCK" the system. SBoard needs to quit babying these kids and let a coach TOUGHIN' EM UP.

4) Parents need to let a coach TOUGHIN' EM UP.

5) If you hired a OC you need to LISTEN to him sometimes and ADJUST on the field. OC calls plays and HC calls what he wants and say's that will never work. ASK PLAYERS IT HAPPENS!

6) CHANGE the whole ATTITUDE at the school. You have to be able to make these kids BELEIVE they can compete.

I am sorry to say that I do not think that the current AD can do these things. Although we knew it was going to hard for LCM to win this year because of youth they should be able to COMPETE with many schools in the district. 21-0 in the 1st quarter in multiple games is bad . I hope it gets better soon because this effects the school as a whole.

Stir,

I will address points 1 and 2.  I do not  normally respond to other schools issues but I have had a little experience with this one.  Look at you base pay scale for teachers.  There are 1A and 2A schools in the area that pay several thousand more dollars in salary.  I was offered a job at LCM and turned them down.  It came down to dollars.  I was at a 1A and would make less at LCM.  My dad always told me that you do not teach and coach for the money, but you have to take care of your family.  IF you check the 4A districts in the setx area, you will find a big discrepency $7000 to 8000 with the schools that have their hiring schedules posted.  Just an observation.

Just checked the websites of a few of the 20-4A schools.  All schools pay on a scale of degree of education & years of service.  Of the job posting from the 3 websites in 20-4A I checked,  they were fairly comparable.  I didn't see anything near a $7000-$8000 discrepancy unless you are holding a Masters or Doctorate degree with 33 years of experience.

DISCLAIMER: It might be out there...but I didn't see it.

I know 5 that left this year for raises ranging  from 6000 to 10000 dollars per year To districts all within 90 miles.

Nice raises...that would certainly influence anyone's decision to go.

With only one major industry within the boundaries of the LCM school district, how do you suppose we pay our teachers more $$$$ and fund the new buildings needed in the district?  (there is only one answer, but no one wants to say it out loud)

Instead of a bond that costs the taxpayers money that they dont have, how about taking the cell phone fund, i.e. the $15 fine for the phones taken from the students, and applying it to the new buildings??  I was told that  LCM takes in 20 phones a day.  20 times 15 is $300 dollars a day.  Where does that money go??  I asked several school employees and they all assured me that "it goes to a good cause", but they wouldn't or couldn't tell me exactly where the money goes.  Geeez.

Slam if I lived in the LCM district I would work to get a bond passed like I did in the WOS district.  ;D

TD, What we need is the influx of a few good families into LC to help get that done.  ;D

The bond is another touchy subject.  I don't know how we ventured so far away from the original thread here, but if you think LCM football looks bad you ought to go take a tour of the Jr. high.

How as an adult that owns your child's cell phone do you pay the school $15 to get it back. I say if you want to put little Johnny or little Sally in SAC then do so but there is no way in he........ that I would pay a school to get back what is mine. Just my opinion.

I've heard from several people how bad it is. I also heard that the high school needs alot of work too.

Hard to pass a bond when some(alot) of the people in the community are not pleased with the school board or admin.  But back to the topic LCM FOOTBALL PROGRAM. It will not happen until some big changes are made on the school board and admin. LCM has the kids they just need someone that cares about them and teaches them football from Jr. High to High School. Best of luck to the Bears.

If I'm not mistaken the people in the LCM community are the ones that put the school board members in place. Just as we do at WOS. Sometimes we don't (WOS and LCM) do what we need to do to get the right people in place. Unfortunately we have to look in the mirror and talk to that person about doing something to make a change. That goes for the football field or the school board

As an adult that owns the cell phone you should make sure Johnny and little Sally dont use it at school, you should have that power or make them pay.

no cure there---300 dollars per day @ 183 days comes to 54,900 dollars-----about one teacher salary plus benefits

Just as I tell them to study and not talk in class. I can't be there with them all day long to make sure they are doing as they are told. I have no problems punishing them but I would not pay for something that was already mine. Why not make them pay for talking in class or for being tardy? I just don't get the making them or me pay for something that is already theirs. I totally agree that they shouldn't have it out during the school day. So please understand my issue is not with the crime it's with the fee.

Some in the LCM community have not always agreed with a few of the decisions made by the board and administration, but you can say that about almost any district anywhere.  Football is king in Texas...that's plain, simple, and easy to understand.  Football and all other sports are extracurricular activities and enhance a kids high school years.  The school board's and administration's top priority and responsibility is to solidify the academic standings of the school district for the kids of that district.  They are up to standards on that.

The football program is definitely in trouble at LCM and the board certainly plays a part in correcting that, but it will take even the "right guy" a while to turn it around.  Why would a "quality coach" be drawn to LCM?
