SeniorHawks
I was just reading some of the post on here and felt like I could add something. My kids have been subject to the "Daddy Ball" also and that is what prompted me to get involved in coaching. There is stress that goes with it. My wife and I have had lots of arguements over me riding my boys harder than the other players, but now that she is a board member and sees all the complaints about coaches and their own kids, she leaves me alone about it. As a coach, my boys shouldn't suffer because of dads that favor their own kids but they do. That is one drawback of being a "coaches kid". There are also the instances that parents watching from the sidelines don't see and that's the day to day " my elbow hurts" or "my leg hurts" from the same kids over and over when you are doing your hitting or tackling drills. Also, the 10 play rule is not only there to make sure your kid gets to play, its also there for the coaches to protect those kids that may have not yet developed into the strong, aggressive football player that their parents would like them to be. I've also figured out that alot of coaches decisions are made at the dinner table with the other spouse who may be involved in the decision and not involved in the coaching. Just trying to shed some light from a coaches point of view. suprisingly that coming from you Big E was a good post.. Sometimes kids that are the coaches son suffer because the coach is so worried about what the parents think. Some coaches are harder on there kids then anyone else.I have called different plays at the goalline for my kid not to get the ball ,so there wouldn't be favortism. But that's not fair to the coaches son when a coach does that. It's a touchy subject.. I can be serious sometimes ;D

This is a touchy subject. Not all of the time but most of the time the coach's soon may be a little more advanced because he spends more time practicing with his dad. Maybe his dad has a job that allows him the opportunity to be off so he can practice with his child. Which in turns makes him or her a little more advanced than the child that his dad works 12 hour day. I hope this came out right. Again it is not fool proof but it is the case in some situations. I'm sure I will get blasted for this comment but it is true. Just not in all situations. TD: I personally think you said it just right.

See, I see no problem with a coach's son when he is very good. His athleticism should be used to the team's advantage. I have a problem when the kid sucks and holding back the team with poor play in critical situations.
dune
Lonestar Jr Football doesn't use the "points allowed" system. It's an archaic system that punishes offensive players and allows defensive coaches and players to continue playing their 1st team players throughout the game. Perhaps the idea of keeping the team getting beaten by 28 points from scoring by running the 1st team players the entire game is a real point of pride among defensive coaches but it doesn't seem fair to make the offense pull off the dogs but allow the defense to continue at full strength. But, it really allows adult coaches to go to bed feeling really good about themselves and their defensive performance against teams that their offense had to stop scoring against. Perhaps the new Vidor organization would like to get another look at that scoring rule after the WO-S game.

player66
Queen B, nothing realy. they both organization for the kids to play football. Anyone who bashed either league is an inmatture, selfish, and no class person. Cities , leave leagues for different reason. Personlly I cannot answer your question, what is the difference. I know that Lonesstar allows 7th graders to play boubdaries are flexible. People have choices, choose what is best. By the way, (not for queen The topic was startic by someone that is jealous wbout players on team they play on. Not to bash league. GROW UP PEOPLE!!!! Well, if you are from Vidor, and I suspect you are....probably because BC dusted your butts in every division today.... Not that I am picking on Vidor, just on the trash talk. Some of the Vidor people are the nicest I've met, THEY have gone WAY out of their way to help BC get back on their feet and we appreciate it more than they will ever probably know. They are an awesome group at VPIFA!!!! For the VP of stjfl you sure do bash a lot of people NO CLASS AT ALL

They are an awesome group at VPIFA!!!! For the VP of stjfl you sure do bash a lot of people NO CLASS AT ALL I beg to differ, I am not bashing anyone, clearly you didn't read the entire post, I thanked the VPIFA for all that they had done, and I didn't bash the other person either, I simply stated that I felt that he said that he didn't think of BC at all (which was meant to be a bash, but one I see that you didn't object to) - because of the way the games turned out today - which was not a serious statement considering that when he posted his coment, the games hadn't even been played. Also, the part about Lonestar was said tongue in cheek because many who post here seem to think they are the holy grail and can do no wrong, when they are human like the rest of us are and can and do make mistakes as well. As for the rest of your remark about my having no class, first of all, YOU don't know me at all to begin to make a remark like that, and 2nd of all, being VP doesn't make me like stupid anymore than the rest of the world, and I don't mind stating my opinion and all that I say with the exception of information about the STJFL is just that...my opinion and you can take it or leave it, but I am entitled to it, and entitled to express it like everyone else here is free to do. Lighten up, I think the STJFL is a great organization and all of the associations that belong to the STJFL are great, something I've said before and don't mind saying again. BC wouldn't be where we are right now if not for those very people. :

Guest vpfootball
The only thing I have to say is if Vidor would have combined our teams as BC did, BC would of never beat any of our teams.. BC had to combined the teams after Ike. I do understand why they had to but to get on this site and brag about beating anyone is ridiculous let us pick the best of our teams and then play yall and I promise you the out come would be different. Not taking anything away from the kids they all played their butts off and yes they did win and congratulation on it.. one last thing where were you in week one when the playing field was even and Vidor's Pee Wee team beat yall..Oh how we forget.. bedelmon
I don't think anyone on here uses kids for their own personal gain and for you to imply that is, well, it shows your ignorance. I would also think that an STJFL board member would refrain from saying anything derogatory about the Lonestar league. Your correct, your opinions are your opinions, but to be in the position your in to even imply a derogatory comment is just not right.

player66
This was general statement. Obviuosly you did not read all of the comments. You must be guilty! People need to grow up. The meesage board should be for fun and talk about the kids. I don't care where you play. I dont car what league people are from play ball and let the kids have fun. Most you people are so worried about your selfish goals and what everyone else is doing. Put that much effort in you kids and everyone will be ok. I always find it amussing to see the kids walk of the field win or lose and ready to go onto to the next thing i.e get ice cream, go to a party, sleep over at friends house. The parents and coaches dwell on the game and make excuses. then get on a message board attach teams and leagues. I hope your kids learn lessons from some of the stupid stuff that goes on and does not repeat history and not feel cheated in life!

Good point..guys we need to clean it up here..We can talk about football and anything else..most of us know eachother. I have met alot of good people from here and between football and baseball..most of the joking is done in good fun..but it has been getting out of hand on here. The different organizations taking jabs at one another. It shouldn't be like this.I have frineds who play in both leagues. It doesn't matter who plays in what league, you chose that league because you thought it was best for your child.. Clean it up. This is not the place for it.
