bronco1 Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 District 24-4A still Wide Open by Bronco1 10/12/2008 In 24-4A, the race for district championship is yet to have a front runner. Three games into district play there are five 2-1 teams, Friendswood, Pearland Dawson, Brazosport, Angleton and La Marque. Texas City and Manvel are sitting at 1-2 while Santa Fe is 0-3. It could be anyones championship this year in a district traditionally dominated by La Marque and Texas City. Friendswoods overwhelming defeat(42-21) of the then highly ranked Dayton Broncos put them high on the list as possible district front runners. Angleton changed that with their win(28-25) over the Mustangs back in week 4. Then Friday night Dawson surprised everyone with a 21-20 win in overtime against Angleton. Statistically speaking Friendswood has the edge with its district leading passer Jacob Karam, who has thrown for over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. While the rushing stats district wide are pretty close Friendswood again has the edge, district leading receiver Andre Gautreaux with 508 yards and 6 touchdowns. His 508 yards are 320 yards ahead of anyone else in district 24-4A. It will be exciting to see how this district shapes up in the weeks to come. Next weeks 24-4A games: Dawson at Friendswood Angleton at Brazosport La Marque at Texas City Manvel at Santa Fe
