BMT HS FOOTBALL FAN Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Man, that poll is mess up. The 5a texas football site is already very very super elite minded, but this is ridiculous. WEST BROOK drops 3 spots from 20 to 23 after 61 - 20 win (?????),Coppell beat Southlake and jumps 11 spots from 22 to 9 (????? I guess beat SLC is like beating a football god) and Colleyville loses to #1 Trinity 35 to 28 and moves up 3 spots 17 to 14 (crazy). Can't make any sense of this poll?
Guest LR1969 Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 That's why the computers make the call in College now...(at least to some degree)...too much emotional bs when humans get involved...It has always seemed crazy to me how it all works...Let's say Team A is ranked #1 and has dominated every opponent by three TD's...Then, Team B rolls in with a ranking of #25 and plays to within a one point victory (losing 14-13)...Team B falls off the charts despite the "common sense" rationality that would suggest maybe Team B should move up in the rankings...it's crazy! Just my two cents.

Even SLC, and if a team does beat SLC dose that make that a automatic top 10 team? you have to expect a big jump for a team beating SLC, especially if they're undfeated. i don't know their record, but if they haven't lost a game, and have beaten SLC, i think a top-ten record is fair. as for WB, they obviously should be higher.

In case you dont know it, that website is operated and owned by a bunch of Katy alumni. So, given the source, it doesn't suprise me. I voiced my opinion about the whole thing. They dont rank us any higher, I was told, because we haven't really played anybody that's worth a crap. They are also the ones who think everyone else's poll is junk. Dave Campbell has us ranked #7. Dave's been doing it ALOT longer than the "Tiger Faithful" have. So, let our run through the playoffs do the talking. There's a better than average chance that we'll be going Div II, so we might just get to meet those mighty Katy Tigers in the third round. I hope we smash them into the ground! >

I disagree with you on Coppell big jump. IMO SLC is still better than Coppell, but I'm not take any thing away from there victory (great for the player, community and football program). i just don't think should jump that high.
