badndn Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 TexasPrepInsider.com's Greater Houston Area Week 7 4A Top 20 Rankings 1) Dayton (4-1) 2) El Campo (5-0) 3) Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated (3-2) 4) Friendswood (3-1) 5) Houston Westbury (4-1) 6) Texas City (3-2) 7) Lumberton (4-1) 8.)Rosenberg Terry (2-2) 9) Nederland (3-1) 10) Huntsville (3-1) 11) Livingston (2-2) 12) Houston Davis (5-0) 13) La Marque (2-3) 14) Port Neches-Groves (3-2) 15) Crosby (2-3) 16) Bay City (2-3) 17) Pearland Dawson (3-1) 18) Beaumont Central (3-2) 19) Houston C.E. King (4-1) 20) Waller (2-4) I wonder how much thought really went into these rankings? How does a one loss Friendswood team that anialated a one loss Dayton team rank three spots below them? How about the fact that Lamar Consolidated with two losses is ranked two spots ahead of a Tx City team that beat them? And ranking anyone in district 20-4A currently ahead of Nederland is ridiculous. Say what you want Lumberton, but right now Nederland is leading this district. If Lumberton had beaten Vidor then I could see it. There is bound to be a couple of other Houston area 4A's that are more deserving than PNG and Crosby at this point in the season!

It could be about WHEN we lost to them and then them losing to an unproven (at that point) Angleton team as Dayton seems to have continually progressed. But... at the end of the day, they are just rankings. Although, the guys that make these polls really do know football especially in the houston area. I'm not just saying that because they ranked dayton high either.

If I were a coach, and it could be possible, I wouldn't let my players see these polls. Sometimes they just don't make sense.
