HillGuy Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Saw this on another board and thought my fellow FP fans would find it interesting!: I'll say a 2.7 sec 14U (or any age) softball player would be easy to spot, they'd be as fast as Usain Bolt. Go to this site for the 10 meter splits of his world record olympic performance: This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up If you convert meters to feet and do the math, his time for the 1st 60 feet of the race was 2.70 seconds. He covered the 1st 32.8 feet (10 meters) in 1.85 seconds. He covered the next 27.2 feet in .85 seconds* His total time for the 1st 60 feet of the race = 2.70 seconds. *Using his average speed for the second 10 meters of 32.16 feet per second Any girl who can run a 2.65 from home to first is wasting her time playing softball. There's big money in professional track & field. Of course determining speed H-1st has a LOT to do with timing method...starting on movement, saying "go" etc.
