lu cards Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 i heard tonight that harrison tatum(png)gave lu a verbal commitment.also heard asa cardenas(nederland)was going to commit to lu.just what i was told.
Guest abovetherim Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Good start; but I am still hoping Andre Bevil commits to Lamar!
WOS95 Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 hey i hope thats true. seen cardenas play in the week 0, he impressed me big time.
badndn Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Good move for both of those young men and LU as a program to start out with as much local talent as possible. Where is Bevil at now? JUCO? Would be good to have a JUCO QB and a good mix of JUCO and 4 yr talent right away. With the right coaching Tatum could be an FCS starter in a couple of years, but he needs to be in an offense that doesn't rely on him to do any running! He definetly has the arm and accuracy.
Guest mffl Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Well, we're not positive he has committed yet so lets wait for the official word first before we predict the guys future.
Spanky Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Andre Bevil is starting QB at Navarro JC where coach Woodard was last year. Would be great to get him and also a HS QB in this first year.
badndn Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Well, we're not positive he has committed yet so lets wait for the official word first before we predict the guys future. ??????????????? Whos predicting anyones future? Read my post again. I said he could be a good FCS QB down the road. Didn't say at Lamar. I didn't "predict his future" based on him committing to LU, I base my info on what I have seen every game for three years now.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 LU will have some sleepers from the walk-ons to star in the program.
Guest abovetherim Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Dang BLUEDOVE3, we agree on something! ;D

I wasn't referring to anybody in general just saying that because I haven't seen anything official on this yet and don't wanna jinx it.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Dang BLUEDOVE3, we agree on something! ;D Dang, now maybe the economy will start up on an upswing

3rd stringer Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 What about a big ole tightend from Woodard's home town?
Guest abovetherim Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 What about a big ole tightend from Woodard's home town? A young man from Corrigan-Camden? We'll take him!
Guest mffl Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I hear we have over 100 walk ons, (maybe on this board), even though I know half won't last but I also know a bunch of guys from West Brook who plan or are walking at Lamar (we'll see if they last in the program).
BLUEDOVE3 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I think over half will be walk-ons. Now I'm wondering what will happen the 2nd season when the scholarship players begin to come in. There may be some short-lived football careers.
RonBurgundy68 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 There is going to be 30 scholarship players, and he is taking 85 to games... So do the math on how many walk-ons will be on the team...
