That's how it sounds!

I just hope that they sign Doug MacIver! cheekywv4.gif

I still have his autograph from when he was playing for Louisiana and had been suspended, but made the road trip to Beaumont and was in the stands. :P

You couldn't miss the skunk Mohawk!

He was signed for last season, but we all know what happened there. :x

Any hockey fan can tell you that we don't expect a lot from the media.

Sure, we WANT a lot from the media, but don't expect it.

And I can understand that you guys don't have a lot of time -- I'm not asking for the whole sports segment to be dedicated to hockey(not that it wouldn't be awesome!)...I know this isn't Canada or anywhere in the "north"...but it's what you do with your small amount of time that matters.

When there is HS football, MLB, NFL, volleyball, college basketball, pro hockey, etc... we can always guess which will come last. :x

I checked the paper today, and nothing at all on this latest signing.

So I can take it that they won't win the ECHL's

I think part of this quote goes back to my post a couple of weeks ago about why do the local stations spend so much time covering "national" sports like NFL, NBA, MLB with the advent of ESPN, ESPN NEWS, and the internet I do feel it is somewhat pointless for a local station here to lavish any attention at all on the Texans, Astros, Rockets. If I want to see those highlights or see the score thats what I have cable/satellite for. Or to get really in depth get on the net and check the Houston sources. Now dont get me wrong if say the Twins were in town to play Houston, then I understand with Tyner and Ford now up for Minn. but just your regular everyday game 110 out of 162, I dont get it, if you only have 3-4 minutes why waste 60-70 seconds on the same highlights that are on ESPN??? Most nights when I watch the local news, I generally turn it off after the weather unless I'm trying to see a LU basketball score, HS football score, something of that nature. But its also true of the news itself, I care about the local news to see what kind of retarded ordinance Bmt City COuncil has or is coming up with next but if I want national or world news the same applies with CNN, FOX News, and the net. There are too many sources out there now for local stations to cover anything not local, simply because the local stations do not have the time nor resources to really do it considering all the "reports" are taped network feeds anyway. It's not like Angel SanJuan is doing a live shot from Baghdad you know?? Can we just stick to local and let the national media cover the national stories??

Surprise, surprise, the Beaumont Surprise actually had something nice today! :o

Not a really big article, but at least it was on the front page of the sports.

AND it talked about how Cote will begin training camp in Milwaukee with the AHL, and the other three signed players will begin training camp with the Aeros.

But the most important part was that the coach stated that training camp would be HERE starting on OCTOBER 6 and will be OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! :D

I loved watching training camp in person!

You can see the style of the players, and how the coach teaches them new to work as a team.

The one bad thing was that the rink gets so darn cold during the practices!

But it sure beats the heat outside! :P
