Silsbee Football Players Charged With Sexually Assaulting Cheerleader

When I first heard of this story, I literally got sick at my stomach.  As a father of a high school cheerleader, my initial reaction was to think about my daughter.  The thought someone raping my own daughter it too much to fathom.

It wasn't long after however, that I started thinking about my younger son.  Then I started thinking about him.  What if,  he was wrongly accused?  And then I started thinking about  how bad that would be and how severely his life would be affected.  

There are no words that can describe how bad this situation is for EVERYONE involved:  the girl, the boys, the parents, the students, the town of Silsbee.  This list goes on and on.  

I cannot speak for the rest of you but as for me, I will NOT judge either side.  It's up to the legal system.  I will pray for everyone involved and have faith that God will, in his own way, console all those affected by this tragedy.

i went to post this, and jesusfreak had basically said the same thing but made it sound better, but here it is anyway:

on the flipside, if your son were involved, you would want to know the full extent of what has happened before your child was tried and convicted through the media. there are at least 4 sides to this story, and the only one we're hearing is the girl's, and that only through her outraged father.  there are a lot of people being irresponsible right now:

1) the media, for the way they're handling this

2) those who condemn the father or daughter for what allegedly happened to her.  

3) those who condemn the boys without having any knowledge of this case beyond the slanted reports we're getting on the news.  

if you get on here and want to speculate, go speculate about an upcoming football game, not this.

How much will the absence of these players effect the outcome of their season. What role did these kids have with the team?

Misplaced?  I believe it's a valid question.  I know Roundtree was their top downfield WR.  He will be missed on the field for sure.

Valid--maybe--- but at best terribly innapprpriate and at worst disgusting----players were charged with sexual assult of someones daughter, sister, etc---the concern should go to the victim only----IF guilty the perps will rot in heck

I think that he meant that it is a valid question because this is a SPORTS message board, not a blog on social commentary.

My question would be does the football player turned witness have an agenda. Was he second string and might possibly be making his path to start easier by naming names and getting them off the team. The girl didn't even know who the boys were, supposedly.

Maybe. But an investigative reporter worth his salt, who knows that there are two-sides to every story, would already be asking these type questions. The fact that they haven't been asked makes me proverbially weep for our media outlets.

Another question would be why she went into a room with three guys, her being the only girl to do so. Was this typical behavior? Was she dating any of the three boys at the time? If so, had either he or she been talking about a potential break-up? A good investigative reporter would have already asked her colleagues these things. Believe it or not, these things happen.

And if a newspaper can find out in one day that the hose where the party was held had a history of drug related incidents, wouldn't there have been talk about town of these things. Why didn't the father know where his daughter was. He is so vocal to the media, but why haven't they asked if he was the one to drop er off or not? If not, why didn't he? Did he not know about the house in the community? Did he give his daughter a curfew? Did he think she was with friends?

Investigative reporting, people. If I can think of these questions it is sad that the media can't.

a girl dropped off at a party is not to blame for being raped--IF it happened--niether is a father to blame for someone raping his daughter---I do not need Wayne Docifino to tell me that
