RustedCutlass Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 ...it makes you wonder if the principal really thinks that a few teenage boys taking their shirts off and wearing school colors in chest paint is really all that big a deal after all. Maybe, just maybe, there were some bigger problems for the district to worry about (under-age drinking?) over a few young fans supporting their team, hmmmm?

But, this is not a school problem.

fanofthegame7 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 If you think Silsbee is the only one with under-age drinking....you live in a sheltered world....
setxguru Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 This may not have started at the school, but you would have to be clueless to believe that this situation wont carry over into this school!

They are being classified in the media as being representatives from "school" organizations, huh?

My first thought would be that it sensationalizes the story. Gives it more "pizazz". Headlines wouldn't be that grabbing if it said "18 and 17 year old busted for sexual assault" Kerry, Gabe, anyone else in the media like to answer the question this person has asked.

PoppaBearstarr Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I didn't think it was appropriate to put the players last game stats in the article. Just my opinion, but it comes off as a lack of class on the newspapers part. These are still just allegations at this point I realize that, but I didn't think they were appropriate for the article.[tt][/tt]
Jimmer Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 It's these same newspapers and media outlets, including SETX sports, that make these high schoolers "stars" in our communities in the first place. You report the complete story and the complete story is that these are football players who are accused of sexually assaulting a cheerleader. Fortunately, most of these players names are reserved for the sports pages only and not the police blotter. Just a sad case all the way around.

Fortunately, most of these players names are reserved for the sports pages only and not the police blotter. Just a sad case all the way around. So let me get this straight, it's the media that makes these players "stars" and not what they do on the playing field. :
Gabe Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Newspapers report what the players do and the stats each player makes either makes them a star or does not. I have no bearing on whether WOS qb Ortavious Hypolite throws for 335 yards or 109 with 3 interceptions.
iamthekingbee Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Lets rephrase that, 1-interception and 1-assault for a total of 25 yards and 2 nights in jail!!!!!
iamthekingbee Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 What difference does it make if they play football or not????? It is what it is, these kids DO Not KNOW CONSEQUENCE, Because some lady a few years ago who didn't have kids but had a DR. in front of her name said we can not spank our kids!!They don't understand what it means to be accountable!!!!!
Guest Wildcat 08 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Hope everything works out for Silsbee.

I am sorry but spank or not STAR OR NOT a 16,17,18 yr old boy (or man in the 18 yr olds case) knows that forcing a girl CHEERLEADER or not DRINKING or not to have sex is wrong. I hate that this is going to ruin these young mens lives but it SHOULD because they have changed this young lady's life forever. I pray for all the families involved. I also hope and pray that all the young men and women in our area wake up and try not to put thier lives or futures in jeperody over sex, drugs or Drinking.
smp83 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Sad to see this happen. Used this as an opportunity to remind my kids why I am so picky about where they go to parties, who they are with and why they have a curfew. Of course, I know things could happen any time...but parents have to do what they have to do to teach kids to be responsible. And smart.
SETXsports Broadcaster Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I am interested in the allegations of drinking going on at the party. were the parents there? where did the alcohol come from? I believe if the allegations are founded there will be a whole lot of people in trouble besides these 3 or more young men.

Not to be rude but its very harsh to assume they're guilty at this time.
SETXsports Broadcaster Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 this is very true, I don't think all of the story is out yet.

setxreporter Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 ionesee...you dont know any facts or sides of the story so stop sayin they should be prosecuted... you wasnt there so everyone needs to drop this conversation...i thought this was a sight for sports not a sexual assault case.
