Most Important 20-4A Game of the Year

Recommended Posts

Nobody is trying to take Lumberton's shine... They are strong and one of the best teams in this district, no denying that... But I still can not phantom where the arrogance comes from???  I even started a new topic after the Central game giving you guys props... But I am sorry no one on this site outside of Lumberton is going to hold that team at such a high esteem after two successful years... He!! some of us will never hold L-town in high esteem, no matter how much they win, because it wont erase 40 years of losing!  Some people don't know how to handle success gracefully!  I would hate to see you guys win a title... Eventhough you already talk like you have already won one...  I guess it feels that way when you go from door mat to competitive!!!! Go Figure!

I love the way some of you Fans from other schools just assume that because you read or heard that a school had not made the playoffs  before that That school's Team had been losers for 40 years. Please look at things before you post I agree Lumberton has never been the fav.  team in this or any other district. Look at some of the records though please  8-2, 7-3, 6-4 these records have been achieved more than once and missed the playoffs.  Lumberton could have went last year with 2 losses and missed the playoffs. Please remember that this district is not like some of the weak ones in the area, you could miss the playoffs every year with just 2 losses. This year is a great example a very good team will get left at home and they are taking 4 from this district!!!! I agree some Lumberton fans get on here and say very dumb things  that make people want to root against us. I just ask that when you get mad at them please remember that its not the kids on the field doing this in most cases. So feel free to talk down to the dumb poster's but please leave the Team out of this and refrain from calling them losers!

On the other topic I dont think we sit anyone that is not really hurt against Ned. Play the men that got you there. I do think that Vidor's Homecoming game is the biggest left on  the schedule.

OK this sounds good unless you actually know whats going on... Don't forget there is a team history forum on here...  before last year Lumberton had 5 winning seasons, Thank you for naming 3 of the 5.  2 of of the five winning seaseons were in the modern era 3A in '90 & '91 (The only two years in 3A)...  In '94 they were had a winning season but it is misleading because they were 2-3 in a five team district, so it was the panseys in non district games. In '95 they were 3 - 2 in district; they beat up on the district "Cellar Dwellars"  Lincoln and Bridge City and Ned caught a whipping in '95 too (GO Train)...  In 2001 they had a winning season but again went 2-3 in district... If my calcs are right Lumberton lost only 2 games in a 4A district once ('95) but it was a 5 team district not this massive 8 team district.  Along the way there where numerous 0 to 3 win seasons...

Now... You guys are the powerhouse Train... Running over road kill along the way that includes my Jags!!!!!  It is great and I simply love the team after watching them play twice. What is there not to love about hard nosed, discipline football? Outside of two, I really have no respect for the fans of Lumberton on this site!  However, I appreciate the kids that are there now and wish them success, hopefully we all complete well in the playoffs, and be positive represenitives of this district.

Question?  This year Central played right there with Lumberton for 3 quaters and beat the team that gave Lumberton there only lose.  Now the fans are picking the team that L-Train embarrassed to beat Central!  Where is the reasoning in that?

ShortTexas, I'm from Lumberton and I picked the Jags to beat Livingston and I want them to beat Livingston. I have nothing against Central or ANY of their fans. You're cool wit me.

Awe h3ll he's at 200 posts lookout karma :o

By the way SHORT I as well have nothing against Central.  I have commented that I thought Central has some classy young men on the team as well as good athletes.

People seem to have a tendency to skip over the good posts from Lumberton fans and focus on the bad.

Such is life on a forum. Makes it more interesting.

No, I did say it was a two, should have said a few Lumberton fans that I really respect... Oh and [glow=red,2,300]I[/glow] said Lumberton is a powerhouse in this district right now and I really belive that.  And to clearify I said that I have read post that says Livingston will just simply outscore Central because of the offensive woes.  Livingston wasn't even in the game against Lumberton, so it is a different situation.  The Central/Lumberton (defense and special teams are a big part of our success so you must count those score kinda like the Superbowl Ravens), Vidor/Lumberton games were close hard fought games.  Football is largely about match-ups and I believe Nederland will pose match-up problems for Lumberton. Please tell me your rationale?

From what I've read, you certainly haven't.  Of course, I haven't seen it all so I apologize if that's the case.

Sure, if Lumberton loses to Ned, put my vote down for Livingston as I've heard they've vastly improved since Lumberton.  I can't see that Central offense putting up enough points to beat the Lions.

Regardless of who ends up on top, Lumberton is the most complete team in the district and has the best chance of doing anything in the playoffs.

I dont post much anymore, but this is kind of an ignorant, arrogant post.. I am not here to debate what will happen in the Ned/Lum game, because frankly Nederland's defense is ugly, and I havent seen Lumberton this year... But to say that Lumberton has the best chance of doing anything in the playoffs is pretty ignorant in my opinion.. Livingston has proven it can put up big numbers, Central has proven to grind the ball out and play good smashmouth football and also keep a very talented Nederland offense to 10 points, Nederland has put up huge offensive numbers this year and has proven their ability to score lots of points quickly... I think all of these teams have a great chance of going far in the playoffs... Not just Lumberton, who has gone to the playoffs one year... who's fans think the "L-Train" (whatever that is) is God's gift to High School Football... and who's stadium announcer has NO class whatsoever... making fun of high school athletes on the field is completely unprofessional... act like youve been there before even though you havent.... He thinks tact is something you put in the wall...

on a side note... as far as central goes (and livingston), I was very impressed with the level of athleticism in these teams.. If you combined that kind of talent with Nederland coaching, you'd have a state team... Not to say that Nederland doesnt have talent, but on a whole, I think Nederland lacks in really big or really fast athletes... always have... but coaching.... Undeniably Nederland has the best in the area....

Are you serious!  I haven't looked at this thread as a whole...but to see this comment is sickening!  Central is going through some growing pains...their offense is still a work in progress!  I liked the veer scheme they ran...but I love this wishbone more...the more smash mouth the better!

Now as far as Nederland having better coaching...I don't know bout that!  Y'all have the BEST RB IN THE DISTRICT IN GROGAN...Sorry Hanna...but he is better!  You have probably the two best WR...You have a good OL (Not better than Central's)  Y'all have talent...The game against us was close and y'all went away from the big boy...we had no answer for him and NED quit feeding cuz the ball!  Now of course we were eating up the clock and putting you in situations to be creative instead of just pounding like us!  If anything...for us to do what we've done in implementing this style of O...I'd say Centrals coaches were up there in terms of best staff!  I do like what Lumberton does though!

I agree with some and disagree with other parts of your post Cowboy... I do agree it was a bold move going to the wishbone... This offense maximizes the talent of the runners we have.  Central has a good run blocking line but we need work on pass blocking (luckily we don't do that much).  For some time now Ned has had one of the best coaching staffs in the area, with WOS, Newton, and Now WB and the Train... I have seen the Jags improve and the defensive coaching has never been an issue for Stower's staff.  I think the area has nice coaches and the wealth is starting to spread, but don't count on Livingston winning this weekend!

Here we are...2 games left and Lumberton is again being treated like the step-child in a district that they have ruled this year (yeah...I know...Vidor...things happen). Lumberton beat Livingston and Central. In any other world, Lumberton would be the favorite not only against LC-M but also against Nederland and, therefore, the favorite to win the district. They have found a way to carry last years momentum into 2008 and it has kept them in the win column.  Without Beard, I admit that they may be in trouble. But, we'll see...that's life.

As for the announcer being biased...he's the Raider announcer...Harey Carey was biased as is the announcer for every team in sports. It's an entertainment position...There is no written or unwritten rule that says a home team announcer has to be unbiased. How boring would that be...I fully expect the PN-G announcer to show some excitement when the Indians score and to wear a purple shirt with a big ole' Indian head on the pocket...I expect that..It's normal. I also expect Al Caldwell to get excited when the Cardinals sink a three pointer..He's the home team announcer...I've been listening to him my entire life and I've yet to hear him jump for joy over a Cardinal opponent getting a steal, making a layup, etc...That's because he wants Lamar to win just as the Raider announcer wants Lumberton to win...It's okay... As for any negative comments about other players; I have never heard that but I also wouldn't appreciate it. That would be wrong and over the line. Go Raiders!

Assuming Lumberton and Nederland both win this week...that will be the game of the year next week..Why? Because, until that game is played, we will not know who gets Dayton in the first round and, unfortunately, probably a good old fashioned butt-whippin' to go with the invitation.

Well guys it seems to me like Livingston Vs. Central could be for all the marbles (especially if Lumberton drops one to Nederland which I expect) what do you'll think?

Current District Standings:

Lumberton (4-1)

Beaumont Central (4-1)

Livingston (4-1)

Vidor (3-2)

Nederland (3-2)

Port Neches-Groves (1-4)

Beaumont Ozen (1-4)

Little Cypress-Mauriceville (0-5)

This week 10/31

Lumberton over LCM

Beaumont Central over Livingston

Vidor over Nderland

Beaumont Ozen over PNG

That will make:

Lumberton (5-1)

Beaumont Central (5-1)

Livingston (4-2)

Vidor (4-2)

Nederland (3-3)

Port Neches-Groves (1-5)

Beaumont Ozen (2-4)

Little Cypress-Mauriceville (0-6)

Next week 11/7

Lumberton over Nederland

Beaumont Central over PNG

Vidor over Livingston

Beaumont Ozen over LCM

That will make:

Lumberton (6-1)

Beaumont Central (6-1)

Vidor (5-2)

Livingston (4-3)

Nederland (3-4)

Beaumont Ozen (3-4)

Port Neches-Groves (1-6)

Little Cypress-Mauriceville (0-7)

Lumberton will win out, and get their piece of the Championship again. I will admit I didn't think they would but, they will. So welcome to the playoffs for 2 years straight.

I have to agree with some of the other posters.  The most important game of this season is this one between Vidor and Nederland.  It will decide which team gets the fourth playoff berth.

As far as the rest of you bozos, and I do mean that in the strictest sense of the word, I am continually amazed at the depth of your hypocrisy.

The young people that play these games are kids.  They all train hard, play hard and want to win to the very depths of their hearts.  It doesn't matter what improvements a team has made since they lost to another team, the game that was lost or won is over.  The only game that matters is the one at hand.  It doesn't matter if a game is won or lost on another team's mistakes.  Capitalizing on your opponents mistakes is just part of the game and a TD scored on someone's else's mistake is just as valid as one that is not.

It's all fine for many of you to be obnoxious and snotty regarding certain teams, because we all know the boys never see this board,  ::) ... and yet, take it upon yourself to judge and chastise others for being obnoxious and snotty.

Some of you really need to attempt to develop a life and leave the p*ssin' contests behind.

When you look at what NED and the other schools around the area have in terms of systems being installed...Central is at a disadvantage.  NED has there kids running the same stuff all the way down to their pop warner (Little League Team)...while Central can't get their kids in the athletic period...when Stowers first came he tried to get as many of his FB kids in that class but to no avail...even though they get out of school @ 2:55 they usually don't start practice until 4:30 or later because they have tutorials taking place...So for them to do what they do with those "North End" kids...I commend them...Those coaches work longer hours than anyone...and it's not just football they're working on...those coaches are building character!  To the other point...our line has given up only 1 sack the whole year...but we don't throw it much and if we can win games without airing it out...I'm fine with that!....Jags win tonight....BLACKOUT!
