BMTSoulja1 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 So Lumberton, Central, and Livingston have already clinched a spot. And the last spot will be battled out between Vidor and Nederland? Is PN-G mathematically eliminated from contention?

Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 I still say LCM is gonna win one to make this whole thing wacky
tupac7 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Livingston has not clinched anything. If they lose to Central( which could happen) they would be 4-2. If Vidor lose to Nedereland that would make them 3-3 going in to the last week with Livingston. If Vidor beat Livingston then Vidor would be 4-3 and Livingston would be 4-3....Vidor would go based on head to head. There are whole lot of other playoff possibilities also. The only one that looks like a lock is Lumberton.
Guest Penny Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Don't forget if Livingston loses to Central and Vidor, Vidor loses to Nederland and beats Livingston, and Nederland beats Vidor and loses to Lumberton, you've got the 3 way tie, where points will come into play. That could get interesting.
ljeicp08 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 great point tupac... I drew that up at KFDM... I honestly didn't even cross the Livingston is out of the picture scenario... I'm going to add that and credit you with that information. I appreciate the insight.
BMTSoulja1 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Ok, So who have clinched already? Who could lost their last 2 games no matter what happens and still be in? Nobody?
RonBurgundy68 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Not saying this is going to happen, but what if Vidor beat Nederland AND Livingston? That would make them 5-2, what place would that possibly put them at?
ljeicp08 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Lumberton can lose the last two, and they are in because they would own tie breakers over possible livingston and central both. Central can lose both and own tie breakers over Vidor and Nederland. If Livingston loses both, then a whole new group of scenarios develops for week 10 between Vidor, Nederland and the Lions.
tupac7 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Head to Head tie breakers only matter when TWO teams are tied. If three are more teams are tied it reverts to points.

This is a little more clear. I see. Either Nederland or Vidor will make these playoffs. What if both Nederland and Vidor split their remaining 2 games? That would make them both have 3 losses. What if PN-G runs the last 2 games? That would make a 3 way tie for 4th place with PN-G, Vidor, and Nederland? Then where would that leave Central, Lumberton, and Livingston?
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 this has got to be one of the best districts in the state, at least top 3. just imagine if Dayton was still in it
ljeicp08 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 I also want to suggest that if Vidor beats Nederland, that puts Livingston in the playoffs, because if Vidor, Nederland and Livingston happen to all finish 4-3, that would mean Nederland did not beat the other two schools so there really is not a 3 way tie. Against each other: Livingston 1-1 Vidor 1-1 Nederland 0-2 Then again I don't know if record against other teams determines a playoff spot or not. You would think so. We'll for sure check on that next week IF Vidor beats Nederland this weekend.

tupac7 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Again, if three teams are tied it, would not matter who beat who. It would go to a point sytem. For example, team A beat Team B 14-7. Team C beats team A 7-3. Team B beats team C 21-7. Team A would be + 4 Team B would be +14 Team C would be -10 Team B would be in the playoffs with +14

Technically, if there is a three way tie for 3rd, one team would be eliminated. The rules need to laid out BEFORE the games take place this Friday.
Guest Penny Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Head to head is first, then score.

NDNWarrior Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 So Lumberton, Central, and Livingston have already clinched a spot. And the last spot will be battled out between Vidor and Nederland? Is PN-G mathematically eliminated from contention? PNG is out this year..... :-\!
Chewca Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 No team in 20-4A has clinched a playoff spot. There are a few scenarios that can place Central and Livinston tied at 5-2 (or one at 6-1 and other at 5-2) and Lum, Ned and Vidor at 4-3 with any one of the 3rd place teams eliminated on points. Such as with Vidor beats Ned and both Ned and LCM beat Lum. Unlikely but possible. Needless to say, Central and Livingston also have a remote chance of being eliminated with Livingston arguable having the tougher road ahead. I think Vidor must win out to be in, but I'm not even sure of that.
