Ozen linemen commit to Lamar, sort of

By CHRISTOPHER DABE

January, 1, 0001

Ozen offensive linemen Daniel Lamelle and John Prescott orally committed to play football at Lamar University but will await offers from other schools, both said Thursday.

Lamelle said he accepted a scholarship offer to play football at Lamar but is hopeful of receiving an offer from Georgia Tech, he said.

Prescott said he accepted a scholarship offer from Lamar but will consider other options if presented. Prescott said he is interested in Central Arkansas, which is in the Southland Conference with Lamar.

So far, Port Neches-Groves quarterback Harrison Tatum and Nederland wide receiver Asa Cardenas are orally committed to Lamar.

Oral commitments are non-binding. A commitment is binding when a senior signs a letter of intent. The first day a senior can sign a letter of intent is Feb. 4.

In 2010, Lamar will play its first season of intercollegiate football since 1989.

Has Lamar picked up any Juco players?

Since it's going to be a process...I bet they build for the future and not bring in too many Juco guys that only have 2 years left!  You know, take there lumps with HS guys who will get better over time! ;)

Coach McGallion told me the team will be comprised of 3 types of players:

1) High School Recruits (ie Cardenas and Tatum)

2) Guys w/ experience who attend Lamar:

*Names mentioned were Ryan Butler (Ned WR/DB, Class of 06, played at Trinity Valley CC), Brad Croak (Vidor WR/DB, Class of 07). Brett Ramset (OF QB, Class of 07, played at Louisiana College), Zac Skinner (Silsbee OL, Class of 06, played at Blinn), and Zach Bass (Ned OL, Class of 2006, played at UMHB)

3) He also said they wanted to "sprinkle" in JUCO guys

I CANT WAIT for some Lamar Football
