BORAM Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 True....but then again, a team that quits probably would never make it to the playoffs.
PURPLE 4EVER Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Funny thing is Dayton Fans ......Ya'll will never be albe to cough up that loss to the Raiders it will be in the record book FOREVER!!!!!! O and when ya'll do beat the raider next week or four weeks from now your boys will be licken there wounds while you Past Pine Riders will be celebrating...... The Raiders won't roll over for you and you just might be surprised!!!! The Raiders won't have to roll over, they will be stampeded. And... If we don't play next week, there won't be another time. Dayton will still be playing football a long time after Lumberton starts basketball.
rollinac Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 I hope so but it still only takes one bad game.
hayliv09 Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 you dayton people are just idiots plain and simple you're making fools of yourselves and your town
KFDM COOP Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 LUMBERTON AT NEDERLAND KickOFF TIME The Port Arthur News LUMBERTON AT NEDERLAND * When: Friday, 7:30 p.m. * Where: Bulldog Stadium, Nederland * Records: Lumberton 8-1, 5-1; Nederland 4-3, 4-2 * Series: Nederland leads 8-2 * Last meeting: Lumberton, 33-7 * Raiders capsule: One magical season was not enough for third-year head coach Alvin Credeur. The 45-year-old former PN-G and Kelly assistant brings the finest 20-4A defense (210.5 yards a game) to Mid-County plus the league's turnover champs (plus 9) and owners of the best overall season (8-1). A win tonight retains at least a share of the 20-4A title for Lumberton which fashioned its all-time greatest campaign (11-2) last year.... Team leader Jacob Hanna ranks 2nd in 20-4A rushing and scoring with 900 yards and 78 points. The senior moves from end to middle linebacker due to the torn ligament sustained by junior Anthony Beard at PN-G.... Soph Ryan Hughes moved to 4th among 20-4A passers this week with 430 yards, but Lumberton has not placed a receiver among the league leaders... Raiders own two superb defensive tackles, Mark Murrill and Mason Archer to clog opposing ground games.... * Bulldogs capsule: Coach Larry Neumann celebrated a 13th playoff berth clincher at Vidor with a hard-earned 35-23 win but Neumann has experienced a blustery week due to suspensions of Asa Cardenas and Dionte Forney for missing practice without excused absences.... The Dogs will have to have Ryan Brady, Jude Vidrine, Brent Salenga and Jimmy Swain to take up the slack for those starters. Tommy Gillespie must occupy a huge role at end because Lumberton can tend to turn in that direction.... Senior Wareall Grogan leads a band of 20 seniors to make their final Bulldog Stadium appearances unless the Dogs host a playoff game.... Grogan is the 20-4A leader in rushing (1,091 yards) and scoring (84 points). He's accompanied by the 20-4A passing champ Kirby Bellow (1,393 aerial yards)... The 21st senior, Cardenas, leads 20-4A receivers with 33 receptions but likely loses that title to Ozen's Willie Jefferson (with 30) by not playing tonight. Neumann said Asa's status will be reviewed, along with Forney's, on Monday... * Credeur says: "This is an extremely important night because you start out wanting to be district champion, so this game is more important than the playoffs to us in that sense. We want to win tonight in order to attain that goal. Like all high school games, it usually comes down to turnovers and penalties... Nederland is a double-headed monster with the ball. Their running and throwing ability makes Nederland twice as difficult to defend. Those guys are an offensive juggernaut... The only question we have going into Nederland is (standout junior MLB/RB) Anthony Beard's condition. He tore his knee ligaments at PN-G but he may be able to play. He's been tremendous for us and if he were 100 percent, I wouldn't hold him out for sure. I'm not going to count on him right now as a starter but I may try to suit him out." * Neumann says: "It jumped out to me on video quite early in district that Lumberton's carryover from last year was quite evident... They're very disciplined and they're not going to beat themselves... They have strong, powerful people and good blockers. Their front four on defense is the best in the league, bar none.... We expect Beard to play. He's the best defensive player in the league. He's the best linebacker we've had around this area in awhile. I'm an Anthony Beard fan. He's a tackle-making machine.... Asa Cardenas and Dionte Forney are suspended from this game. I've been in this business for 35 years and the hurt never gets easier (as a coach).... We knew Vidor would play us very tough and we needed to play well in order to win."
