Guest mffl Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Basketball commitment Joshua Wesley is 6-5 240 and is listed in the rivals database as a weakside DE, but he is committed to the cards as a PF... wonder if he's considering playing both sports?
lcm2007ms Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Could he do that? sure ok i didn't know if you could do 2 sports in college.
TexasTerror Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 ok i didn't know if you could do 2 sports in college. A few years ago -- Bennie Brazell (Westbury HS) won two national championships (if you want to call the FBS one that) with LSU as he got "BCS National Championship" with football and outdoor track and field. Brazell ended up going the 2004 Olympics.

badndn Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Football to Basketball is the most dificult in college because they run concurrent for a few months. If he committed for basketball I would imagine Roc wouldn't want to have to wait on him each year for football to end nor would he want the injury risk. But if he is on a football scholarship then it would be a different situation.
Guest mffl Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Martellus Bennett did it 2 years for the Texas A&M. I don't think he played all of his sophomore year though so he could focus on football but he did practice for a little bit. The guy had offers from everywhere, and literally, EVERYWHERE, for both basketball and football. Terrelle Pryor, last year's rivals #1 overall football recruit and was ranked number 27 for basketball by rivals, also could of played anywhere in both sports. He is a starting quarterback now though for the Buckeyes, he's a ridiculous athlete.
Guest coachacola Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Skyler Williams was also being recruited for football so there's another 2 sport guy on the basketball team.

More scholarships in football, thus less risk to the basketball roster if he gets injured playing basketball. He was essential the highest recruited walk-on to the basketball team and takes an extra spot on the team as opposed to Wesley who would be one of the 10 or so basketball scholarships.
TexasTerror Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Just remembered that SHSU currently has an athlete playing soccer and women's basketball. Lamar got her over to women's basketball a bit earlier than she intended (Thanks Cards!). She did not play in the exhibition opener. We'll see when she makes her debut with the WBB team.
