Enjoy it Dog fans because Friday night we are done if we play anything like we've played for over HALF THIS SEASON, stick a fork in us.  By the skin of our teeth we made it into the first round of the playoffs and I'll be shocked if we go any farther.  The talent in our District continues to improve and we do not.  The Dogs have great athletes but I seriously question some of the coaching techniques over the last two years.  We've become so freakin transparent that I'm surprised the Ghost Hunters crew hasn't come down to investigate.  Before anyone says "you're just bitter", no I'm just honest.  Our fans have become spoiled to winning and sit in the stands pouting when we're not winning the games.  Lumberton has an awesome thing going on.  Watching the fans, band, coaching staff and players get "excited" is so refreshing that I almost went to their side last night to join the band on the "Thriller" dance.  Lumberton isn't "ruined" by winning yet.  Nederland and PNG have been.  Personally I believe a couple of losing seasons would actually be the best medicine and maybe everyone (coaching staff especially) will refocus and figure out why the heck they're actually here.

My two cents...and this coming from a "homer".  ::)

Nederland will have a tough time in this game...I hope they keep it close but I see King taking this one in a route.  The Hannah kid from Lumberton had 337 and 4 tds...the Alexander kid from King is bigger and faster and King mixes it up better with reverses and a better option game.

King - 45

Nederland - 14

Any given Friday night ...  I'm from King and my college roommate was from Nederland.  We had a nice rivalry going in '88 with the King/Ned bidistrict game.  I thought I'd call him up this week to poke him in the ribs but I sure would hate to have to eat crow.  Anyway I'm picking King by 13.   :)

Nederland needs to get under center and hand the ball to Grogan 25-30 times.  Dude's a haus, and I wasn't impressed with Ned's QB's arm or decision making.  Had they done that, they would of given Lumberton a better run for their money and will have a better shot against King.

I'll take Ned by 7 though, 28-21.

Ned's passing game is a lot better when the All-State WR is in the lineup. I am not making an excuse at all, Lumberton beat us and without Beard to boot. But, Asa Cardenas is the best WR in the district and definitely not being out there affects the passing game. Hats off to Lumberton for getting tremendous pressure all night on Kirby. That is the key to disrupting the spread. Lumberton is an excellent smashmouth football team. Team plays with a lot of emotion and their crowd support is great. I agree with you that we should run Grogan more. I left the game scratching my head last night.

Also, if we are not going to run Grogan 25-30 times, how about letting him play a little defense, like on 3rd down.

King is not that tough. They do have some speed and a decent running game but they are extremely vulnerable to the pass. Since it takes more time to score for a running team than a passing, I think the bulldogs outscore em in a shoot out. 42 - 35. Good Luck to both teams. Oh....and good luck to which ever team/fans has to park on the visitor side! Parking improvements are in the works, but it's painful right now.

    • Nah… to be completely honest, I think it goes like this.  I’m split on it.    Part of me says that there’s a segment of voters who believe that trump should be the ruler, whatever that means. It’s about 25% of R voters according to polls. They’re the hardcore Trump loyalists… the kind of people who would travel to DC in the winter to hear Trump speak at a rally, then ransack the Capitol… maybe trump doesn’t believe his own “you’ll never have to vote again” rhetoric-but he’s just throwing red meat to the fascism supporting minority of the R party. Kinda like he does when he says racist crap to fire up the minority of his followers (cough, Baddog, cough) who really don’t like brown skins or foreigners. You know, Trump doesn’t really want unilateral power, he just needs to whip up his voters who think he should have unilateral power. It’s possible, right? Then the other side of me sees who he was willing to say or do ANYTHING to remain in office, even after it became obvious that he didn’t have the votes. The fact that he refuses to accept reality as late as the debate last week makes me think, “no… this guy is the real deal, willing to do ANYTHING to get back in office and then willing to do anything to keep it and/or hand it off to his heir apparent.     Over time, things have ping-ponged back and forth between monarchies/fascists who get overrun by the masses, then that form of government (populist) erodes to the point where a strong man seizes power.  I think we fought off socialism/communism as a republic and in 2024 we’re fighting off a facist-style movement where enough of the population has enough faith in one leader to give them absolute power.    But that’s just my opinion. Trump and his hardcore followers (the ones who aren’t in prison for their 1/6 activities represent the biggest internal threat to our democracy that we’ve seen in my lifetime.  The fact that it’s originating from “my” side is what’s particularly troubling to me. I would have expected the left to converge around a popular leftist, not the right.
    • I don’t tune in all the time, but I do like Kat. I’m know the studio audience and tv audience enjoyed the show.
    • It looks like Tyler won this game last year and both team look to be much improved.  I think Lufkin may struggle a little out of the box bringing the QB back in, but the Lufkin D will help in that transition. I see Lufkin by 14 as Tyler should struggle to score. Seeya next week 👊
