KFDM COOP Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Houston Lee out of District 20 5A with 3000 kids doesn't have a football program. Hard to believe. But only 30 kids came out for football so they dropped the program.
KFDM COOP Posted February 16, 2006 Author Report Posted February 16, 2006 Does anyone else find this strange?
SilsbeeD Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 is that the school with all the different ethnic groups? I heard they were real big into soccer if it is that school.
SFA85 Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 With the inception of Westside HS(2002 I believe), most if not all of the football players opted to go to the new school leaving Lee with nothing so HISD dropped the program. They didn't win much anyway so it wasn't a big loss
supertilley Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 That still makes me sick. I would have loved to have 30 kids on my team. we did it with 14 w/o a district. I only got a break between 1st and 2nd quarters....half time I had to march with the band.
BHTrainer Posted February 20, 2006 Report Posted February 20, 2006 that crazy out of 3000 kids only 30 came out???
Jsmity Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Yea they are a pretty decent soccer team. Its a mostly hispanic school so that kindof transposes
WOSgrad Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Well, as now a 16 year resident of Houston, I can tell you that as a community, there is not the fervor for football that there is in SE Texas. Lee has been without a football program for several years now. If you go by the school you can see that it really doesn't have the space to support most sports, much less football. Quite frankly, I am surprised that a few more schools around HISD have not closed down their football programs.
Jsmity Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Thats realy ashame though. Sports are good for a community. Especialy variety
