Guest mffl Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 OSAS!!!! It's gonna be fun sayin his name. With his length, athleticism, and potential, Osas Ebomwonyi certainly grabbed his fair share of attention on the recruiting trail. Offers started rolling in this fall for the lanky 6-foot-8, 195-pound post from Pflugerville High School and he certainly had no shortage of options. But an unofficial visit in August helped pay dividends for one Southland Conference program in his recruitment and that's who Ebomwonyi will be inking with come signing day on Wednesday. "I am going to be signing with Lamar," Ebomwonyi said. "I like their coaching staff - I really like the way they run things and the way that they recruited me. It's a ncie school with a nice engineering program, which is great because I want to be a mechanical engineer." Ebomwonyi visited Lamar in early August along with Pflugerville teammate and good friend Jonathan Garza, who made his verbal to Lamar shortly afterward. It took Ebomwonyi a little more time as he considered offers from schools such as Sam Houston State, Texas-Arlington, The Citadel, Montana State, and Cornell, but in the end it was the Cardinals that won him over. "They like how I'm a quick leaper and I'm a fast post and that I block shots well," Ebomwonyi said. "I pretty much want to get bigger, that's about it."

BLUEDOVE3 Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Sheez! Sam Houstonn Tech recruited him? Sheez!
orange badbyrd Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 My old supervisor coached Garza in the youth basketball league when he was younger. He had a broken arm at the time of the draft and he went ahead and drafted him anyway. He was quick then and the other coaches was very sorry they didn't drafted him. Very humble young man too. When we talked, he thought the other guy would come as well being they are real close. A big steal, in my opinion.

Okay, I hope you are right because quickness will definitely help at the guard position.
Guest coachacola Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I have noticed a common theme about all these recruits. They are quick and athletic, and Roc is finally bringing in a bunch of freshmen. We'll have to wait and see if they can be good D1 basketball players.
Guest abovetherim Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I believe he'll sign about 6 players. No inside info just a gut feeling. He likes those JC guys and we haven't heard of any of them committing to Lamar. I bet there will be at least one.

But good points.
lamarproud Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I think there may be as many as 8 early signings and at least two more verbals. This is an exciting time for LU. ;D

Not sure how they'll be able to sign 8 players without kicking some current players off the team.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Thank God basketball is here. I was about to lose it a few weeks ago. Man I'd go watch biddy basketball if they were playing
