Guest coachacola Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 For Coy Custer, the bench was home last year. That's where he spent most of his time during Lamar University's 2007-2008 season. Custer, a 6-foot-10 center, logged all of 31 minutes of playing time in 10 Cardinal games as a redshirt freshman. Beginning Saturday night when Lamar hosts Louisiana College in its season opener, Custer's status is going to change dramatically. Steve Roccaforte, Lamar's head coach, promised exactly that during Tuesday's Media Day activities in the Montagne Center. "Coy is ready to step up and contribute meaningful minutes, so you're going to see a lot more of him this season," said Roccaforte. "He probably won't be a starter, but we're counting on him to be a key player for us.
