Lamar preparing for upcoming season with "just-in-case lessons"

On a team that might start two true freshmen, will play the entire season without its most proven post player because of injury and open the season without another experienced big man because of another injury, Roccaforte will have no choice but to adjust on the fly.

Lamar is without 6-foot-6 senior forward Justin Nabors this season because of a fractured right leg and dislocated right elbow suffered during a summer pickup game. Lawrence Nwevo, a 6-8 senior, will miss four weeks after arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Friday, Roccaforte said.

Two fresh-out-of-high school freshmen guards, Charlie Harper and Anthony Miles, might play key minutes early on and will develop from there. With increased roles are McThay, a guard, and Brown, a forward.
