So are the Astros Dead after that loss last night? This is no doubt the biggest series of the season against the Reds if they cant hold a 3-0 lead in the late innings im sorry its over

The only thing keeping the Astros in it at all is the fact that the teams they are chasing are all pretty sad themsleves. That being said, I don't think we will be watching Astro playoffs this year. Last night loss was a killer. There is a big difference between being 4 out and 6 out and that swing happened in a very short period of time last night.

I don't blame Qualls for last night I blame Drayton for not fireing him and Garner for putting him in. Thats just my thought on it.

yea well i blame the astros for being so stupid and putting lidge and qualls in continuously.......dont they know they have a guy worthy of closing in dan wheeler? do they not realize that he is the only good reliever they have?

Last night Qualls wasn't in a closing situation. It was the 8th inning and he came in in the 7th. Garner was planning on Wheeler pitching the 9th and closing the game. To me the bigger problem is the anemic offense. Watching them bat is a lot like watching the grass grow. Yes, they should have been able to hold on to a 3 run lead in the 8th, but then again how many times has the pitching staff, Qualls and Lidge included, held the other team to 1 run and still lost. This year they have been shutout 11 times, including 4 times 1-0.
