soccer.tx Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Who is the strongest HS coach in the district?
setxsoccer Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 good question Bledsoe is probably at the top (Nederland)
soccer.tx Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 Who ended up taking the Vidor job?
setxsoccer Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 I guess Travis Maines, I think he was the assistant last year... not enough people know the coaches around here
soccer.tx Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 and some of the coaches don't know soccer :?:
Bread Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 I'll probably go with Coach Bledsoe from Nederland, being as Coach Sturdivant left PNG after last season..... and yes Travis Maines is the head coach at Vidor now....
AshlyHasBeen Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Did he really leave this time, he usually says that every year.
soccer.tx Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 that's what the word is. i have not looked at the website to see.
Bread Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 he left for sure, because he is now one of the head trainers at spindeltop select in beaumont....
Jsmity Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 The three best coaches in the area are Bledsoe- NED.... Smith-WB.... and Sandel-PNG... who is Spikes replacement....
wos02 Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Coach Wedel was my coach when I was back in school. We may have not gone to the playoffs but he knew what he was doing. He is now at LCM and they are lucky to have him. WOS will get their program back on track...
soccer.tx Posted August 24, 2006 Author Report Posted August 24, 2006 Wedel really brought soccer to WOS. They had a few decent years before he got there, but he had them tie Nederland, PNG and LCM in OT that went into PK's. They have not even come close to that level of play since he left. Look what he did at LCM in the 1 year he had them.
wos02 Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 he did not bring soccer to WOS, we had several teams that competed in the district, he was a good coach though
soccer.tx Posted August 24, 2006 Author Report Posted August 24, 2006 huh...dan hooks gave wedel the credit, for taking soccer to the next level. the coach they have now has not built the program up, that is for sure. i feel sorry for the kids that have talent and desire over there.
LC-MSOCCER Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Yeah, Wedel for sure. He's the best coach i've had that actually knows what hes doing.
Champion Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 They have soccer at WOS? Girls and Boys?
Jsmity Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 You know another guy who is a really really really good coach is Joe Fontana from Kelly...... he got his first coaching job with a group of u-17 Spindeltop Select guys.... 1st year with them 2 place in state.... next two years played classic... and in the final year they won the Premier Division Championship..... His years at Kelly have been just as impressive.... 5 players he has coached in the last 4 years are now playing College soccer........
setxsoccer Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Def. Wedel! being from lcm I can understand why you put Wedel... the point of the topic is to expand on your reasons and try to convince the rest of us. Smity did a great job with his post about the coach from Kelly, do you see where im going with this? Im not picking on you 21 its just that if you are going to be a homer at least be a knowledgeable homer.
KFDM COOP Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 Be nice now. Coaches read the site here.
Bon_Mot Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 No disrespect, but Bledsoe's record wouldn't be what it is now without the strong club system in MidCounty. First of all, the area lost a couple of great coaches this past year when Watson left for Bastrop and Spikes retired from high school coaching. As far as best coaches in the area, a good coach is one who prepares his squad and gets the most from his players. Wedel's teams always have a good game plan and are solid in all aspects of the game. Also, Sandel is the epitome of class and knowledge, and that translates to his team. I expect both coaches to have their teams right in the hunt for a play-off spot in a very balanced district.
reccosdog Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Where has Sandel coached before this year?
Bread Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 First of all' date=' the area lost a couple of great coaches this past year when Watson left for Bastrop [/quote'] LOL, ill agree with that, but we do have our JV coach from last year, who I believe will do better than most people think...
Bon_Mot Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Where has Sandel coached before this year? He was the head coach at Central and was an assistant at West Brook previously.
Jsmity Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Sandel is a great guy and a great coach... good friend of the family.... knows his soccer!!!!!!!!!! VIVA LA FUTBOL!!!!!!!!
