KFDM COOP Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 Panthers wrap up 23-2A sweep From sports staff reports Baytown Sun Published November 15, 2008 ANAHUAC – Justin Albritton scored three touchdowns and Anthony Rivon two more Friday night as Anahuac downed Deweyville 38-13 to wrap up its hurricane-extended regular season with a perfect 6-0 District 23-2A record. The Panthers were waiting to find out when and where and against whom they’ll enter the playoffs next week in the Class 2A area round playoffs. District 23-2A drew a bidistrict bye in the latest UIL realignment, allowing Anahuac and Deweyville to reschedule their game that was lost to Hurricane Ike. The Panthers, 8-2 on the year and district champs for the first time since 2003, scored 31 unanswered points in the second and third quarter to break open a 7-7 tie forged when Deweyville’s Keeton Addison scored early in the second period on a 3-yard run. Albritton scored on runs of 39 and 14 yards and Jacob Pesina passed to him from 10 yards out to give Anahuac a 26-7 halftime lead. Rivon scored from 15 and two yards in the third quarter. Deior McNeil, who led all rushers with 90 yards on eight carries, had Anahuac’s first touchdown, a two-yard run, late in the first period.
